Ketosis & CD bars...

Hi - quick question about CD bars - can they take you out of ketosis ??

into week 4 (have had a bar every day since start of week 3) - noticed that my tummy is rumbling the last day or two - don't think I'm hungry (not sure :rolleyes: ) - could it be that the bars have kicked me out of ketosis ?? should I stop them ??

help please.....:confused:

I have had the bars since my 2nd week & have always stayed in ketosis, i know they are higher in carbs which is why we can only have one a day but i don't think they can knock you out.
I've been doing this the same time as you & i'm still getting the odd grumble but i'm not actually hungry, i just think of it as another pound lost when it rumbles ;)
Have you tried the ketostix just to put your mind at rest?

But not to sure.
Have had bars from week 3 did not seem to hinder my weight loss.
Congrats on you loss so far you are doing so well.

Hi Lorraine - not tried ketostix yet - will defo get some tomorrow just to be sure I'm in ketosis :)

what colour should they 'go' ??

As long as they change to a pinky colour then your in ketosis. There is a little colour chart on the container to compare against.

Started CD on3,1 06 and it was the best thing I did,
Feel lots better then I did at start of year.Look lots better then I did at start of year(so people keep telling me) would love to be at goal by the end of the year but still a way to go I will get there though and so will you.

I wouldn't be surprised if the tummy rumbles are actually wind!! The bars tend to make me a bit windy, and I've heard a few other people say that too. I have one a day too - luckily I have my own office :D
 
Hi, The bars knock me out of ketosis and set up the worst cravings too. I read someone else Mrs Depp I think had probs getting into ketosis on them

I think the orange bars are 20 odd grams of carb which is quite high. But it all depends on how sensitive you are. If you're craving food, then I'd give them a miss.

The tummy rumbling is probably down to them though - not sure if they have maltitol which is used in low carb stuff and that is def a culprit!
 
Don't worry jack29. The sticks never showed me in ketosis. I knew I was though and don't think I could have managed an 8 stone loss without being there.

CD bars. Maybe you could try the peanut or cranberry bars as they aren't higher in carbs than the shakes. See if it makes a difference.
 
When I did Atkins, the ketostix showed their maximum colour with me (dark purple) yet after a couple of weeks, I stopped losing anything but was still in ketosis.

BTW, I don't think that dark purple is the maximum 'strength' (if you know what I mean). It usually means you are dehydrated.

Also BTW :) Atkins does put you into a deeper stage of ketosis, which is why it's not as dire if you cheat on Atkins. A small slip on LL, LT or CD and you're out.

Thanx K.D. :) have ordered some ketostix - they should be here later in the week...haven't felt hungry at all today - so maybe I was panicking over nuthin !!!

Love both the Peanut / Cranberry bars so will give those a blast :D

To be honest I feel hungry most of the time... am drinking loads of water, had more than 4 litres today & haven't cheated at all... well just a little dried garlic in my soup & one or two sugar free chewing gums a day when my mouth feels like a dead rat.... think I'm in ketosis too (my stix always change colour even just a little) so why am I always hungry???
