Oh Boy! I'm Struggling

Me as I want to look xxx
Hi there,

I am struggling a bit on LT. I don't understand because on days 5-7 I was absolutely fine but the last 3 days I have been really cheesed off with the diet. I know it works, and am more or less ok in the days at work, but at night I am constantly thinking of food. My hubby is very considerate eating sometimes in the other room, but I am really bored even when I am doing things.

My brother-in-law who has maintained how proud and surprised I am sticking to it 100% has mentioned I am becoming a bit unsociable.

I am sorry I don't mean to moan. I know you guys are great and wondered if you could give me some advise please.

Is this normal?

Hiya

Yes absolutely normal!! You do feel unsociable while doing the diet and generally have good days and bad days.

In terms of unsociable then try going ten pin bowling or do something that doesn't require food, at the end of the day you don't need food to be with family and friends and enjoy them so it just requires some more creative thinking on a night out.

In terms of the diet it is boring! BUT you are only a couple of weeks of seeing some serious results and then suddenly your mindset will change and you will realise that losing weight is actually good fun as you ride the sea of compliments, buy nicer clothes and generally feel and look healthier.

You have done so well to get through the first 10 days which is the tough bit so please just hang in there and you will be so pleased that you did.

Mike

Hiya, all I can do is to reiterate what Mike says - hey if anyone knows, he does!!

You will find it becoems easier over the weeks to get out and about and do things - partly, I reckon, because you are feeling so much better about yourself due to the weight falling off (at least its wroknig that way for me!)

For my first 3 weeks or so I found it helped to get out of the house - going for a walk was really good, or having early nights with a good book (or your fella lol!)

I also drink about 2 litres of sparkling water during the evening, I find it helps as at least then I have *something* to do!

Keep on going, the results will SO be worth the boredom!

You will

Yeah...Mike and Elle are so right.....I never want to have to go through this again ..ie having to loose over 6 stone...and I realised while on this diet that I spent so much time of my life stuffing my face and meeting friends and family revolved around drinking beer and wine etc and oh more food ...no wonder I put on so much weight!! There are other ways to enjoy friendship that dont involve eating and drinking....if the weight is going to stay off and I am determined it will....I need to keep this up post LT and cant go back to my old ways!! You can do it....I started about the same weight as you have and over 2 stone gone in 6 weeks....it just been so worth it!!!

Just keep visualising what you will look like when you have lost the weight, how wonderful it will feel. This will give you the motivation to continue.

Merlin dont give up. It is normal to have bad days but just put your head down and fight. Just think how proud you will feel when you feel better about the diet again and have lost more weight! Hang in there kid we are all right behind you!!

Seriously, thankyou all.

I have read your replies and they have helped enormously. I will continue, I know what you mean about thinking how I will look at the end of it and being healthier.

Thank you all again so much.

A bit more inspiration for you Merlin - I just put on a pair of jeans that were too tight for me to wear a few months ago - they are TOO BIIIIIIG!!!!! YAY!!!!

Thats a wonderful feeling for you to look forward too :)

Thats such good news....Way to go Elle!!! I am so trilled for you cos I know the clothes was bothering you.....you should seriously dig out a few things and even if they dont fit you - you will see how close you are to getting into them! I took out a Size 14 skirt from the wardrobe this am (still with label on as it never fitted me) and while it was tight....I reckon in two or three weeks I will be in it easily.....6 weeks ago I couldnt get past my thighs!!! This has put me in good humour for the day!! Have a good one! Bea

Oh thats brilliant Bea! What a feeling! I have a load of 14 lovely designer clothes still with labels on from 6 years ago! Darent get them out yet but in about 4 weeks time I will!

Have a brilliant day hun :)

When do you start noticing a difference in yourself, as in looser clothes, looking slimmer? I haven't yet.

I think it depends really on what type of clothes you wear! For example, most of my trousers were stretchy and had elasticated waists, or I wore wrap skirts and wrap dresses. That means it was harder for me to tell if I really had lost inches. However, I have gone down 2 bra sizes since I started, and with that you can definitely tell! Just hoping my cup size doesnt change or my fella will be most put out!

The first time I really noticed a lot of difference was on Monday this week - I put on a dress that was too small when I bought it in March, and again... now its too big and i had to take it in!

Then this morning I thought I would try on a pair of size 20 jeans which were too small before - they are now too big and I am wearing them but have to keep hitching them up!!

I know I was avoiding trying on old clothes before but now it does seem to be helping!

Thats great news Elle. I have bought some size 16's for my hols in 9 weeks from ASOS, somewhere I previously would never have bought from. I feel better about it today and know now I will get into them.

Have a great weekend everyone XXX

Thanks Elle and have fun in dublin Rachel
