Maintaining with Howard's Way

Hi thought would start new thread on this forum as just posted on other thread and really pleased to find a HW forum on MiniMins now. :)

Lost around 4 stones with HW a couple of years back, still go along most weeks for maintenance checks to make sure doesn't creep back on without me noticing.

Anyway doing okay still, have put a bit back on a couple of times but never more than half a stone or so, cos my Locum can advise me what to do if the weight goes on again, so far I have been able to lose again just by doing a few weeks of 2 shakes and a sensible meal each day to sort out short term weight gains. :)

Would be great to hear from others on here who have done HW.

Went for my weigh in last night, bit disappointed cos put a bit on. Not surprised really, had a big night out with friends on Friday (Nandos and wine) but still hoped to have at least stayed the same cos had been quite good the rest of the week. My Locum has asked me to do a food diary in case I've forgotten some of the other things I might have eaten in the course of the week though so will see how that works. Also will go back to my standby of 2 TFR and a meal in the week, bit more relaxed at weekends. Giving up wine for Lent next week anyway...:)

Hi Karen, sorry to hear about your small gain but it sounds like you know where that came from (and I bet it tasted lush too hehehe! ;)) Keep with the diary and I'm sure it will all work out. xx

Thanks a lot Lady Gaga and yes, I did enjoy it at the time!;)

At least keeping a food diary is making me think about what I am eating, my kids had a couple of friends round for tea yesterday and of course wanted something with chips, cooked up too many and was just about to eat the extra when I thought ...I have to write it down if I do! So I fed the compost bin rather than my face and felt rather smug afterwards. Feeling more in control today, too, so that's good. Hope all is going well for you. :)

Well done on your self-control Karen. Such an inspiration. Food diaries are such a good idea. I know when i did Rosemary Conley last year that helped me keep on the straight and narrow! xx

Been rushing around a bit last couple of days so no time to post. I'm happy to report, 2.5 lbs down this week, great news, much happier and back in control. :)

Hello there,
I have just started a new thread up on Howard's Way, but mine heads 'by post'. I only call it that, because that is how I am losing mine, by post. It really is good to see (read), other people other than my friend who has done the diet. I was going to post on all the threads, but will be repeating myself, so may wait a couple of days before going onto another one.
Well done ladies, you really are an inspiration to us all.
I hope to speak to you soon, as this is the start of week 2 for me, fingers crossed I get through the 12 weeks.
Love Abbie.

Woo hoo....well done Karen- bet you are very pleased indeed. Well done missy xxx

Hello ladies,
I am trying to do my ticker, but seem to be having a problem, so I am trying it on your thread...........please work, if this message comes through without a ticker, can someone help me please.

Many thanks
Abbie.X

Hello again ladies,

I do like all of you, try and write a little on each thread, so we all keep going and doing well.

Karen, I hope all is well with you? we haven't heard from you in a while and I was wondering if you were alright or lost the plot with food or something (only joking)......but having said that, would love to hear from you.

If you weren't doing so well, I would phone Howard's Way diet and put out a missing persons announcement, but from what you say, you are very good and in control.

Hope everyone else is well.

I get weighed tonight like Lady gaga, so will update you with her tomorrow.

Love Holly.X

Hello again,
I know you have probably replied on the other threads, but hey, I wanted to do a quick reply on this one.....21lbs lighter! I am over the moon.
How are you all getting on? Karen, I really hope all is ok with you? You seem to have vanished. Hopefully its because you are on holiday or something? give us a quick update when you get a mo.
Calling all Howard's Way diet people... I am sending out an SOS, where are you?
Holly, I was just reading your last post and you say you and Lady gaga were getting weighed, what happend to both of you? did you lose, if so how much?

Let us know,
Love Abbie.X

Hi all, hopefully you saw my post on other thread re dodgy computer, hence why not posted for so long.
Anyway, in case you didn't, doing really well with my Howard's Way maintenance again, lost 4 lbs last 2 weeks, so 6.5 lbs since back on track.
Glad you're all doing so well too.
Lots of love, Karen. xx:)

Hi Karen and everyone,

It seems like everyone has been really busy. I have been so busy.......but nothing really exciting or anything, just working hard and spring cleaning at home. Why do we keep so much rubbish and think...maybe one day I might use that or wear that? Well I have been ruthless!!

Anyway enough about all that, Well done Karen, you have done brilliantly.
I am pleased to announce that Howard's Way Diet and me have succeeded!! I got there and I was too busy to even write, that is how focused I am on losing and now keeping my weight off. I am obviously refeeding now and doing well. My Locum keeps saying refeeding is so important and then Maintenance is a must! so not to sound to formal, once my refeeding is complete, I will become not Howard's Way weight loss plan, but Howard's Way Maintenance plan. That sounds so much better that 'Keep your weight off!'

Keep up the good work everyone and Abbie where are you??? and Lady gaga, I do hope you are feeling better. I will reply on the other thread, just incase you don't see this one.

Love Holly.

Hi Holly,

So glad you are back, me and Lady G were getting lonely...:wave_cry:

Well done, you must be so pleased to be finished with the TFR part of Howards Way! Good luck with your refeeding, remember it is just as important as TFR and is a really important stepping stone towards maintenance (as my Locum kept telling me!). Anyway, I know I was really nervous when I started my refeeding but enjoyed having some lovely food again, all the same!:)

Will let you know how I get on later, as weighing in before I go and visit family over the weekend.

Lots of love, Karen. xx

Now I'm cross, just did a lovely long reply to Lady G on the other thread and the system logged me out, as answered the door then got sidetracked, so didn't get back to my computer for a few minutes and so couldn't post my reply...AAGH!!

Never mind, Lady G I just wanted to say how well you are doing, too, with your weight loss being nearly the magical 3 stones now (I say magical 3 stones as you can only join HW if you have 3 stones or more to lose and my Locum was saying to me last night that they now guarantee a loss of 3 stones in 12 weeks! for those joining up with them - Holly, did you know that?).

Anyway, back to why I am posting: really pleased as now another 1.5 lbs down on my 2 and a meal regime, so 8lbs in the last few weeks now. Away this weekend so will have to keep my eye on the ball but now have lost that weight, can relax a bit (still not allowing myself wine until Easter Sunday, though!) ;)

Have a good weekend ladies and will speak again early next week.

In the meantime, keep me updated so I have lots of news from you both when I get back (busy packing and doing other bits tomorrow then off Friday, so probably won't be able to post again until next week now - afraid I don't have anything flash and portable which I can post from while I'm away!).

Lots of love, Karen. xx

Woo hoo....well done on your loss Karen and I hope you are having a fab time away.

Holly I hope you are still floating in the clouds for achieving your target and keeping strong.

Abbie.....where are you??? Hope you are OK honey xx

I've weighed intoday and am pleased to report have lost 5lbs this week - woo hoo! Now tajkes me to 3 stone 3lbs in 11 weeks so not bad at all. Have had one of Exante's add a meal weeks this week too where you still have 3xTFR and then a protein/ no carb small meal in the evening as I was feeling so low after being ill and was just so hungry so think it was just the boost I needed. Now back to just total TFR's and feeling great. Didn't binge at all on my week of small bits of food which is incredible for me and I believe it does me good as it shows my willpower that when I start to eat again I don't have to eat everyting in sight as 'I haven't had it in soooo long!' which I believe is where I went sooooo badly wrong the last time.

Now off for a Dr's appt as have a very dodgy looking mole which is scaring me a bit so will chat again later.

Big hugs to you all xxx

Hi Lady Gaga, hope the doctor's appointment went okay. Best thing, to get it checked out.

Back from my weekend away, didn't do too badly, no alcohol but maybe shouldn't have had that cooked breakfast yesterday or finished the kids' chips when we went down to the beach the other day! But back on track now, will do 2 and a meal until Thursday, then relax a bit over weekend (as long as my weigh in tomorrow is ok!).

Be in touch soon, hope Holly and Abbie are ok, Holly know you have posted recently but Abbie seems to have disappeared! :cry:Let us know how you are doing, girls.

Love Karen. xx

Karen- sounds like you had a fab time away and surely thos elittle nibble are what makes it feel like a 'holiday' as it's not whaty you would do every day! I think you are amazing for getting back on the TFR straight away too- incredible!

I'm still going strong. Mole is rather dodgy and Dr can't rule out nasty things so been referred for an urgent hospital appt to get it checked out. No point worrying as hubbie says as we don't know what it is yet so am trying to go with that frame of mind.

Had another 100% day yesterday so hope that continues today when I have a friend coming round for lunch. I've found the trick is to make things I don't like so the temptation completely goes!!

Hope everyone is doing ok xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Lady Gaga, well done for how you are doing, I agree with making things you don't like if you think you might be tempted, I know if ever I decide to do a week on TFR if I really need to after a holiday or Christmas, I do exactly the same, especially on a Sunday, can't cook roast dinners if I can't eat them too! Found that worked when I did TFR fully when I first lost my weight, too.

Agree with your hubbie, no point worrying unless you have to and hopefully will all be fine.

Was quite pleased when went for my weigh in as lost half a pound, which considering had been away was good, I thought. Staying the same would have been a bonus, so losing a bit was great!:)

Anyway, take care, look forward to hearing from you soon.

Lots of love, Karen. xx

Woo hoo Karen.....well done on the loss- that's amazing work. ou are such an inspiration. What are you planning over easter? Are you still on some TFR or total food now?

I'm still sticking to TFR and keeping strong. Now working nights so trying to keep busy to remove the food temptations!

Hope you and the other ladies are doing OK xx
