If you read Britmums post in one of the other threads she breaks down the Syn values. What makes them high in syns is the filling not the potato. It really is a crazy story which has taken on a life of it's own and is being kept alive by people continuing to pass it on
Besides the potatoes would be in edible if they were fried then cooked
