Want to wear a bikini, not a tent this summer!

Hey everyone, I haven't posted much on here so hope this is ok..

I’m Madeleine, I’ve been following everyones posts for the past few days and feel very inspired!

I’m going to meet the CDC tomorrow night then hopefully get started on Wed. Feeling really excited about it! I have a 11month old who keeps me busy so hopefully he will keep my mind off food during the day. Have done a big clearout of the cupboards today so there is nothing tempting there and luckily my OH has agreed that all junk food he has will be hidden away from me!

I have about 6 stone to lose and really looking forward to being able to wear “normal” clothes! And not clothes that just hide everything! It seems like such a long way away though..

I am a bit worried about not being able to maintain the weightloss afterwards, as thats what everyone keeps saying to me when I tell them about the diet!

Anyway, thought i’d say hi! I’m hoping to use minimins to keep me occupied from hunger thoughts, So will probably be on here quite alot lol! Any tips along the way to keep motivated and not cheat would be great!!

hi and welcome

keep busy
drink water
play the games on the arcade.
drink more water
brush your teeth
tidy the house/flat/car/caravan/yacht etc etc :)
come on here
get a buddy
don't let anyone or anything demotivate you. find your focus and just do it.
go for a walk if you need to snack, just get out of the house/flat etc etc

a few tips.

you'll be fine if you stick to it 100%, do not deviate and the hunger will go. then it's dealing with emotional hunger.

on any diet the end result is the hardest to keep going. ask anyone and maintance is the most difficult.

i'm try to STS more or less now. it's hard work. it happens to any diet out there. the journey is as quick or as slow as you make it. you need to embrace your new life and not go back to your old ways. any dieter can fail on this hurdle not just someone who does CD or LL etc

Well this is my first day on the diet.. just had a apple and cinnamon porridge for breakfast and have started on my water, feeling quite positive!

I met my CDC last night for the first time and I am a little confused with some of the things she said..

She doesn't weigh you every week, she said you have to do that yourself so said to make sure I go and buy myself some proper scales. She said I needed 4 packs a day - but I am only 5ft7, and just looking through the books it says you should only have 3 if under 5ft 8.

Also she sold me 7 bars and I have just read that you are not supposed to eat the bars in the first 2 weeks. She also said that I am allowed fizzy drinks as long as they are diet.

I feel a bit confused because I'm reading one thing and she is saying the other.... can anyone offer any advice??

Hope everyone is doing good today!

Wow, I thought one of the reasons why you see a CDC is to get weighed?! I am not on CD but doing a VLCD exante which is basically the same as CD just no counsellor but the diet drinks sound wrong to. At a push things like Dr pepper zero and coke zero are ok because they have malic acid and not the citric acid which in big amounts can knock you out of ketosis.

As for the bars, it seems some CDC will let their clients have them early but the general seems to be the 3rd week. I can't help you with the height/packs thing, sorry.

Based on what I read around here, I would call another CDC. She sounds lack lustre to say the least!

Well done for starting though and good luck! x

Thanks, i'll steer clear of the diet drinks then!

Yeah, she seemed a bit unsure of things, she didn't know the answers to the questions I was asking her and admitted to never succeeding on the diet, always falling off the wagon. She is only about 5 miles away from my home but the other nearest is about an hours drive away so don't know if its worth the petrol every week just to get weighed.. X

A great start :D

WHAT... no no she's ment to weigh you and some cdc take weekly measurements too and record on your card..

Not a good start really.. do u want her too weigh you weekly?

She said I needed 4 packs a day - but I am only 5ft7, and just looking through the books it says you should only have 3 if under 5ft 8.

mmm what is your BMI do you know?

yep really no bars till week 2 which is correct.. BUT some cdc do give them out early.. just have one a day and plenty of water.. so dont worry too much on the bars this week.

She also said that I am allowed fizzy drinks as long as they are diet.

People do drink coke zero sugar free.. but cd do not recommend you drink fizzy drinks when u are on a low plan.!

try not to have any just yet? stick to tea's coffee' plain water:)

I feel a bit confused because I'm reading one thing and she is saying the other.... can anyone offer any advice??

any questions post in the main forum ASAP.. we all give support and advice chick.

Hope everyone is doing good today!

but i would not go back to her again..... but is your choice of course.!!;)

See how u get on with her for your next visit.. then if know change move on asap.!

I think with this diet you need/pay for the guideance and support from an helpful CDC..!

i catch a bus to my cdc and worth the travel each time.!

have a good week x

well this is the end of day 1..

I had apple cinnamon porridge (yuck!) for breakfast, chocolate orange shake for lunch and potato and leak soup for dinner.. had about 3L of water all day - and im soo hungry right now!!
I was soo tempted earlier when feeding my son some scrambled egg! He only had a bit of it and when usually I would just eat what he didn't, it was difficult throwing the rest away, especially when I was feeling so hungry! but I'm proud of myself for not giving in though! I think I'm just going to go and watch a film to get my mind off food! and go to bed then hopefully tomorrow will be easier!!

End of day 2.. managed another day 100%, although so many temptations!!
Hopefully ketosis will kick in soon, these headaches are awful! Managed to drink 3L of water today and felt like all ive done today is run to the loo!
Can't wait for this week to be over!! :)

Well done on your first couple of days, it really isn't easy! Just the same again for another day and it will start to get easier. 4 packs a day shouldn't affect your weight loss at all. On Lighter life everyone has to have 4 packs which amounts to the same calories as CD so you will be fine. Most CDC don't give put bars in the first week but mine did, i had one a day and lost 13lbs! Really don't worry about the bars. As for your CDC, she doesn't sound very helpful or supportive. Of course you want to be weighed every week by her. I too would consider changing, or at the very least just phoning another counciller and asking the questions that you have, i'm sure they won't mind.
Good luck with day 3 x

Woo finally on day 3, headaches aren't so bad today..

Last night my son woke up at 4am teething so when pouring the calpol on the spoon, I poured way too much so quickly sipped it, then 5 seconds later remembered about the diet and so spent from 4am till 5am online looking at the ingredients in calpol!! This diet is making me mad lol.. hope that one sip wont affect anything!!

Just weighed myself today for the first time since doing the diet and my weight hasn't changed atall although just checked my measurements and ive lost an inch off my waist!! :)

Just poured too much water in my porridge, so just have really watery porridge.. yuck!

Last night looking at that calpol has made me realize how much I want this and I know now that I'm not going to cheat, as if I felt that worried over one sip of calpol, I'm hardly gonna go and eat a pizza etc..

Haha I was dreaming about the diet last night!! Must be the only thing on my mind right now!

ohwell hope the weight loss changes soon but hey, im only on day 3!

Hope everyones having a good day!

Haha I was dreaming about the diet last night!! Must be the only thing on my mind right now!

i dream about cheating when i do ss. i dream that i've eaten something i shouldn't have and get cross with myself. of course i haven't lol :)

just catching up and i agree with what shanny has said to you.

your CDC is meant to weigh you every week unless YOU don't want her to. the minimum is once every 4 weeks by your CDC.

i drink coke zero and dr pepper zero cause there's no citric acid in them and citric acid can knock you out of ketosis.

yep you should be on 3 shakes a day unless you want 4! it's up to you and how you cope. you can have 4 shakes and a small amount of milk.

bars - the first full 2 weeks is no bars this is so that you can get into ketosis quicker as some people are carb sensitive and the bars can make some people feel hungrier. the first time i have bars is from the beginning of week 3.

did you get your books from your cdc. you should have got 2! a book telling you about ss (& ss+) and what you do and a book that gives you the rest of the plans from 810 - 1800 cals. if you don't have this then make sure you get them. they're free.

if you are not happy then move CDC's if you can as they make the difference to you on your journey.

sharon - nice to meet you too! Yeah that's what I keep reminding myself, food will be there when this is over!

great things - thanks for the tips! and I had that kind of dream too that I had ate something I shouldn't have then woke up this morning panicking lol.. Yeah my CDC seems to be quite hands off but she called me this morning to see how I was getting on so I'm starting to feel a bit better about her. Would still be great to have the WI to look forward to but I went and bought some good scales that I will use every tues on my own :)

ask her to weigh you and record it on her sheet but also on your weight management card, the yellow one. she should weigh you. it's not your responsibility to weigh yourself. it's a great sense of acheivement the first weigh in. i loose quite a bit. first time i did ss i lost 9lbs, 2nd time i lost 11lbs, this time round i lost 9lbs in my first weigh in.

End of day 3.. well this is a weird experience. Friday night and not ordering a takeaway and cracking opening the wine!

Today has been fine, can't wait for this first week to be over with and to see if I have lost anything.. so far I have had a peek on the scales and I haven't lost anything yet which is a bit disheartening!!

OH is away out on a night out and son is fast asleep so its just me in tonight! Think I might have an early night to get away from my food thoughts lol.. why does everything look so much tastier/smell better now I'm on a diet?? Even foods I don't even like.. !

Ohwell least i've managed another 100% day.. bring on day 4! :)

Great things - yeah I was disappointed when she said I wouldn't get weighed, she said she didn't have scales to weigh people with so I should go and buy my own. She is only 5 miles from my house and the other person in my area is about an hours drive away so will keep going with this person for another couple of weeks then i'll have a think to see if its worth the petrol money travelling that bit further to the other CDC.. Your losses are great! :)

Wow i have had 4 CDC in the past and have never known any of them not to have scales to weigh me or measure me.!!

If your happy with this treat.. it's your choice

well done to you for reaching day 3 be proud.x

thanks :) my losses are ok. wish they were better at times but i've had a hell of a year.... well since september. i got to 11st 10lb last april then went away to eurodisney. came back heavier and went to 11st 10lb where i stayed. i was running loads as i was training for a half marathon and my iron levels dropped low'ish so i had to stop cd. came back in nov at 13st to lose my excess and more. want to be lower but i think my body has other ideas.

i say a hell of a year but it sort of started in september when my mum got taken into hospital. she was in massive pain. she ended up having her big toe on the right foot amputated due to gangrene. she's diabetic. she then got re-admitted in oct to a different hospital to infection of her left leg. they didn't bandage her left left properly, she had a diabetic ulcer so when she was released she ended up with another ulcer on the top of her foot. i had a right xmas. my son got chickem pox, mild case but passed it onto my daughter who was very ill and got admited to hospital 20th december, same day as my mum got admitted to hospital for the 3rd time. ems, my daughter came home the following day but my mum was very ill..

mum was on morphine and she was still in pain. they upped her patch and upped her oral morphine. she was in all of xmas from the 20th dec for 6 weeks and 1 day. she was out of it xmas day and didn't even know we'd been to see her. this hospital visit ended up in her loosing her left leg below the knee.

anyway a very stressful year where i've tried to keep it together weight wise and sometimes i've won and sometimes i've lost. just as life is.

anyway. i've got a 5, 10k and a half marathon this year as well as a zumba training course to go on. if i can do it through the turmoil that is my life then you can do this plan too.

i hate maintenance :( on it right now and boy it is hard work! :(:(:(

i just also want to say that you must be happy with your cdc. they are the life line you have for this diet. they help you do succeed and if they don't do their job right you are the one to suffer. do not accept 2nd best ever!
