Boxing & Bag Work

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone does any bag work at home for exercise? I did a couple of minutes hitting the bag at the gym and It was good stuff! I was sweating and it felt good!

I'm thinking of getting a bracket in my garden to mount on the wall, to fit a punch bag to it during the summer.

Does anyone use punch bags/boxing equiptment to aid in getting fit/general exercise?

I used to do karate and did a lot of bag work, it's great for working out your upper body! Funnily enough I've been thinking the same thing about getting a bracket and bag. I love bag work, it's good for getting rid of pent up frustrations too lol.

Hi i'm only new and joined a boxing club in january, I really enjoy the classes they are really high impact and sweaty, however even the fittest are so busy working on what they are doing that its the first exercise class workout that i have ever felt comfortable in.
The circuits while intense they are generally suitable for the most uncoordinated(like me).
I love working on the bags and zone out and focus and it really does tone up your arms quite quickly.
I am looking to get a bag myself as at the minute i only shadow box at home.

I find bag work is much better than shadow boxing, because you make physical contact you can put more effort in, with shadow boxing (or shadow sparring) there's the chance you could pull your shoulder if you go at it too hard because there's no resistance (hope that makes sense lol) but either way they're both good workouts for your arms.

I find bag work much better also sorry if i was unclear... I shadow box to practice form and speed between classes, I'm saving up for a bag stand at the moment, and will be buying a bag, sorry for being unclear

No you weren't at all, they both have their merits, I'm just speaking from experience about pulling shoulders, I don't know when to stop lol, shadow sparring is all about control, and I have none ;)

I pulled my left shoulder at the start, so they made me use the bag beside a mirror, so to be really honest i shadow in front of the mirror like a big poser

That's the only way to do it lol. I wish there were boxing classes near me, I quite fancy it. Maybe I should go back to karate....... Hmmmm got me thinking now :)
