Water Retention!

Gutted.....my worse weigh in ever last night since starting SW last year. Plus 3lbs! However, 99% of that is due to water retention as I seem to be forever on a * week at the moment (time of life as opposed to time of the month, and I haven't had one of those for ages either!). On the plus side, weighed myself this morning, and I've lost 2 and half pounds overnight (?). Anyone got any recommendations how to beat this water retention thing - just feel so bloated! Read on Minimins somewhere that drinking water actually helps (and really, I don't drink enough during the day anyway).......

I get bloated during * week, and can gain anything up to 5lbs! I do drink 2litres of water a day anyway, but I drink more to overcome the bloating and it does work - Just make sure you drink it regularly but not too fast it will just go through you and will not benefit you. Also try reducing your salt intake. I've read that stress can also cause water retention!

Hi Jam21.....I posted something similar a little while ago asking the same question as I hadn't had a * week for 2 months & felt really puffy. I drank plenty of fluids & also bought some water retention tabs from Boots....they are a herbal remedy by HRI called Water Balance & you take 2 twice a day after meals & Im sure they helped, but then I had a * week, so not sure!!!!! Worth a try if you can take them & approx £4 for 50 tabs.

Thanks Kim63. I will give them a go!

Mala23 - thanks for your advice and as regards stress....you may have hit the nail on the head! Having real problems with house extension & the fitting of a new kitchen (won't bore you with the details) and are also having a stressful time at work - mega busy and working all hours. Whilst I am OK with the salt issue, I definately need to increase my water intake. Will let you know how I get on!!
