Hi, I'm starting CD the day after tomorrow (12th of Feb 2011). Very nervous about it. Any kind of support is appreciated, especially if you are just starting out too. I'll be keeping this weightloss diary to help me through the tough days!
I'm 5'4" and 163 pounds on my homescale. Let's see what the counsellor's scale reads. Hoping to lose 40 pounds in 2 months (by 12th April 2011). Is this an achievable goal on the Cambridge Diet?

sincerely Determined!

Hi there,

I am starting on the 13th!! Am also really nervous. The thought of not really eating any solids for a day scares me...not alone a week!

Im 5.4 and 174lbs :-(....am hoping to get down to 147 but that really is no mans land for me. I am going away with work in May so would love to loose 21 to 28lbs by then...or as soon as possible!!

So, what are your worries about going on the plan? Im worried about people at work finding out and think its a stupid idea...I think im going to be very discrete about it at first.

Hope we can chat more and help eachother though this :)

Chelle,

Hi

I think 40lbs over 2 months is a bit unrealistic to be honest and by setting such a stringent goal you could be making this journey very tough for yourself.

The average loss is about 12lbs a month (although you may lose a bit more the first month with water loss) and your goals are better set at that level rather than one which could very likely be a physical impossibility.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Goreygirl! I hope it won't take longer than 3 months though.
Hey Chellerypickle! I'm really glad to find someone who is starting CD at almost the same time as me. I am being really discrete about the diet and plan on keeping it this way for the very same reason as yours.
I'll meet my counsellor for the very first time tomorrow. Let's see what plan she recommends. I'll keep posting my weekly weight loss on this thread. Let's support each other through this!

Hello, I think its really important to have those goals for what you want to loose but they have to be achievable otherwise you will very quickly become disheartened, especially on diets like this one! I agree with GG that 40lbs in 2 months is maybe unlikely especially going by your stats your no where near big enough to get massive losses every week (infact im a bit jel of your starting weight lol I wish I was there lol)! You sound like your ready for it tho so I wish you all the best with it. Ive done this diet before in the past a few yrs ago and dropped 2.5 stone in 6weeks but I was a waitress and it dropped off. Sadly lol I put it on again and a little more and have been on it now 5 days and going ok. So im sure i will pop in and encourage you. xxx

Thanks Rubyangel and Mishi!
Visited my CDC for the first time today! turns out i'm not 163 but 171 lbs!!!! so that's a weight gain of 8 pounds on the very first day hehe!
Anyway, I bought a bunch of different flavours of porridge, soups and shakes! tomorrow I start CD. Here are the goals:

Start weight: 171
Start BMI: 30
Goal weight: 126
Goal BMI: 22
Total weight loss required: 45 lbs
And at the end of it, hopefully fit into size 8 clothes *fingers crossed*

I'll update tomorrow on how my first day of CD goes! Wish me luck!

You can do 40lbs in 8 weeks but you would need to be very strict with CD, no nibbles, all your water and some sort of daily exercise, maybe even twice a day .not quite the intensity of biggest loser, but certainly something that gets you pumping and breaking out in a sweat..it would take its toll but is doable but not sure how healthy it would be .

Good luck on this amazing diet it's got me in size 10's.
Please just try and take it day by day then time will go faster a d the. The weight will soon disappear xx

Thank you for your supportive messages girls!
So day 1 of CD is finally over. It wasn't so bad. Had 3 cambridge meals and a cup of milk. I have no idea whether I am on ss or ss+. My counsellor has given me three extra sachets of porridge this week, just in case I feel like cheating....I shouldn't and have one extra sachet instead!
I didn't get the much dreaded headache but I did feel a little disoriented and lightheaded in the afternoon!
Tried the Apple and Cinnamon porridge, Leek and Potato soup, and the Toffee and Walnut shake. They all taste pretty much the same LoL.....i.e. like gram flour paste.
now 5 more days before my first weigh in! I've heard days 3-5 are the toughest! yikes!

Well done on getting through the first day, I would say yes the first 4ish days are the hardest but I'm sure, with your goal in sight you can achieve anything.

Your kinda in-between ss and ss+ to have the skimmed milk its supposed to be 4 packs per day, but like you I too am having 3 packs and milk...
I am also roughly, the same weight, and we are the same height, so if you would like to buddy up and email etc, to keep motivated I'm all up for it.

Good luck

Day two seemed harder than Day one! hehe.....I swear I could smell pizza and there was no pizza in the house! Tried the Maple and Pecan porridge, the Oriental Chilli soup (yum) and the chocolate shake with hot water, a tsp of instant coffee and a dash of cinnamon powder (double yum).
Besides being glad I successfully completed 2 days on the CD, I am concerned about some other issues like hair loss and dry skin. Does anyone know of a good hair supplement I could take during this diet? I am thinking of switching to aloe vera shampoo and I've heard almond oil massages do wonders for hair growth/hair loss prevention.

Cheerios!

Hey,

I am joining you a little late but due to start CD tomorrow. I did the diet approx 3 years ago and lost 8.5lbs in first week! :)

I am starting SS+ tomorrow and quite excited (although guess i wont be saying that when i want to chew my arm off)

I am currenlty 5ft 2 and weight 12stone 8lb so look like a barrell! :( I would initially like to get to 10 stone and see how i feel! I do not have a time frame really although am off to Morocco in May!!!

Good Luck with rest of the week - ill keep you updated!!

Good Luck Sexy waiting to happen! hopefully you won't have to wait too long! The vacation in Morocco is a great incentive!
I can totally relate to looking and feeling like a barrell, especially in my parka which had started to seem harder to zip up every passing week this winter!
I suppose you should be able to reach 10 stone by May! Good luck staying focused and true to the diet! Just think of the hot holiday pictures you are going to take in 3 months :)
Keep us updated on the weightloss
