What happens when you reach target.......

I've been thinking recently, once I reach my target weight will I put it all back on again as soon as I start eating normally??

I don't really like the foramage frais, natural yogurt, cottage cheese receipes. Artificial sweetner makes things taste, well, artificial! I have to watch what I eat, watch my syns. I don't want to live like that for the rest of.....

So when i stop, will I gain?? :sigh:

Depends what you define as normal. If that means eating everything that made you gain weight in the first place then yes, chances are you'll put it all on again! Hopefully the plan will teach you to make more sensible choices and then you stand a fighting chance of keeping it off.

No, I won't be going back to eating everything in sight but I would like to eat more bread & flour, Milk and butter.

I LOVE my lasagne, SW lasagne just doesn't compare!

Unless you syn the extra bread/milk/flour etc, you'll be going over your calorie intake by eating more syns and if this carries on weekly you will put weight back on.

According to SW, to maintain you have an extra HEb every day - if you lose again, add another every day the following week. Once your weight STS, you've got the right number of HEb choices to maintain.

Others have a couple few syns every day to maintain, but you need to be careful you don't do what I said above or you'll find you'll gain.

As for lasagne, there's loads of variations adapted for SW - I had to try different ones until I found one I liked and now I prefer the SW version instead of using the jar sauces which have no flavour and they taste horrible now. My OH prefers the SW too and he isn't following the plan. I can post the version I use if you want.

I'd love that, thank you!

I've tried SW tikka massala and tonight I made the chocolate cheesecake. Both inedible as far as my OH and I go! Getting me down that I can't find nice tasty treat-like things to eat!

Appreciate your advice!

Hi

The idea of slimming world is that you change your food habits for life. Not give up as soon as you hit target.
WHen you reach goal, the art of maintaining is generally trial and error!
You will have to experiment with your eating habits for a while to find that happy medium where you maintain!

I have struggled with this and still continue to lose, yet physically cannot eat any more than i already do!

Slimming world isn't just a diet, this is a healthy eating plan FOR LIFE. 'going back to normal' WILL result in the weight you have lost being re gained.
looking at your stats your only just starting your SW journey and your start weight was was the same as mine. I'm in and around target, ( gained with xmas) and this is our healthy living plan now.

We have FAB meals, and eat lots and have a pudding everynight. we have the occasional 'naughty' like my mate made chocolate brownies today, so we have had a small bit, but the age old saying of a little of what you fancy, and everything in moderation etc etc
but 99% of the time were following the plan.
Check out my recipe thread for inspiration, most of my meals are 'normal' recipes, just tweaked to be SW friendly.
After a while your taste buds do change and you learn to try and like different things. the first weeks are the hardest, you body still craves the sugar/fat/bread etc of the old ways.
I had the shakes for the first weeks as i came off the huge sugar intake that i used to have. It is an addiction, i just went cold turkey and it was tough, but now i feel MUCH better for not having all the high fat/sugar stuff. and can really enjoy the odd piece of proper cake.

just gotta get your head around this being a change for life not a quick diet
