Lesson learned - never assume!

I picked up the M&S Simply Fuller for Longer Chicken Noodle Meal Soup for lunch today - assumed (magic word - assumed! HA!!) that it wouldn't be too high in syns as it is mostly noodles and chicken and was only 270ish calories.

It was gorgeous - v yummy and filling and spicy so warmed me up on another snowy day.

THEN I check the syns - 14 1/2 on any day!! Owch!!

So - lesson for the day is never ever to assume that something is nicely low in syns just because it is in a 'healthy eating' range!!

I always use the 20 calories = 1 syn rule if i dont know the syns for something......just a tip for future xxx

"Never ASSUME as it makes an ASS out of U and ME"

(or something like that!!).

Nightmare! I think that's only 1/2 more than a Lion Bar!!!

It's things like this that makes me find the structure of SW confusing.

Premade soups are often high because you don't get the benefit of the free food allowance, so you are syning all of the calories, hence for 270 calories you could have had a chocolate bar (although it probably wouldn't have filled you up as much!)

I try and keep homemade soup in the fridge or freezer and most of these are free because you are using the free food.

Ooh that's upsetting for you - at least it was nice! If you're picking up something like that for lunch you're probably better off getting a pasta based ready meal as you would at least get some free food allowance for the pasta. Soup never has any so you're always shafted!
