scan bran

I hav just tried scan bran for the first time an I was suprised to find it wasn't that bad. A lot of people have said it isn't very nice and I was expecting it to be horrible. Am I the only person that quite likes it?

I think its an aquired taste, and also it depends on how you have it - for example - hidden in a cake (yum!) on its own (yuk!)

I cant have it in its 'natural' cracker form as i need about 3 litres of water to eat a few slices!!! (perhaps thats a little over exaggerating!!! but you get my point!)

I had them with laughing cow cheese and ham. They are dry but I like them. I think I am going to try and make a carrot cake with them at some point aswell. Xx

Scan bran cake is a great invention - i have done one with raisins, mincemeat, maple syrup and weetabix! Its delicious! xxx

loads of recipies on here for scan bran cakes and suchlike.....i find them nice and simple to follow x

One person I know has suggested I should be burned as a witch just for liking scanbran lol. I have one or two for my tea break most days. I like them on their own and I do keep meaning to try making a cake but I've never got round to it.

So no you're not alone :) But there aren't very many of us either. You can't know how relieved I am that I'm not the only one! :D

I will have to have a proper look as my partner is craving something sweet. He is trying so hard to support me by not bringing loads of cakes and things into the house it would be a nice treat for us both.

While we're on the subject of Scanbran - If I was to have, say, Pawridge for breakfast, do I have to have a Scan bran aswell? It's just on the healthy extras list it says Pawridge plus 1 Scanbran?? Thanks. Sarah x

Hi Sarah

Yes you need to have a scan bran to make this a HEB choice - this is because PawRidge does not have enough fibre on its own - hence the extra scan bran needed for it to qualify as a HEB choice. Without the scan bran you need to syn it.

Thanks Ellebear! Will get my mum to get me some when she goes to her group tonight. Hope I like it, as got 2 boxes of Pawridge as it was on special offer at Tesco!! Lol! Sarah x

Where does it say that "Pawridge" is an HEB? I can't find it.
Do you mean porridge oats?
Am i being completely thick again?!
Lx

Yes it's just porridge but it's by Quaker and called 'Pawridge'. Think it's aimed at kids, but it's quite nice :) x

yeah its super cute and has bears on the front - bears with PAWS - hence the play on words!!! (and as opposed to bears without Paws!??)

I am a huge fan of scan bran. I have it daily for lunch topped with syn free cottage cheese (I mean seriously loaded too-ohh what a mess I find myself in with it! Thank goodness for the privacy of an office). I also like to have it with my laughing cow light cheeses-you get a whole cheese per slice of scan bran-mix that up with some vegemite, cherry tomatos and then slap some ham on top and you have one lovely lunch.
My group think I am mad for liking it too. I just find it really filling without the carb slump post lunch.
You must drink a lot of water with it as I have heard it can block you up (sorry to be crude!)

I will be drinking more water as I really don't want that. I had it with laughing cow and ham with a fruit salad for my late breakfast.

I tried some today with laughing cow light on and I have to say it wasn't too bad!
Our consultant really pushed it last week saying we should all try some.
You can now have ww WHITE pitta bread as a heb choice as long as you have one scan bran as well apparently, so for the love of White bread I've tried it!!
