Hi guys,
I have been on exante now for 5 days . I have stuck to the plan 100% I have had 3 sachets a day . Drank plenty of water. I have had 3 black coffee with a tablet sweetener and a mouthful of the bouillon drink. (sorry not sure of the spelling) I didn't like it anyway. Just wanted to try a hot drink. I don't like black tea or coffee.
Apart from these things I have ate and drank nothing. So I'm confused why I haven't gone into ketosis.

I don't have a problem with the diet apart from I love a cup of tea with milk. I'm really missing this. Was going to try coke zero but seeing that I'm still not in ketosis I was wandering is it possible while following the diet, that you never get into ketosis?
 
Most people do get into ketosis but i know Joanne doesnt (sorry joanne, using you as a an example here lol). Coke zero wont affect your chances tho as its got no citric acid in :) Also, it might help if you stick a spoon of vanilla shake in your coffee, makes it a bit creamy, and if im really craving a cuppa, i use just a tiny splash of skimmed milk. It hasnt affected my diet so far but obviously thats me personally, so shouldnt advise on that. Jst find away that works for you xx

Hopefully ketosis will come soon for you, a lot of people take about a week! xx
 
It sounds like you're doing all the right things Karenn, What makes you think you're not in ketosis, as not everyone gets any of the 'symptoms', or are you checking with ketostix? If you stick with the diet, the weight will drop off you! Hopefully when you get to your weigh in, you'll see a great result from your first week.

I've been trying ketostix and they are showing that I'm not in ketosis . I'm still going keep doing the diet. Thanks for the idea of some vanilla shake in my coffee I'll give that a try x
 
Karenn bin the sticks. Seriously bin them. They're notoriously unreliable - follow the diet and you'll be in ketosis and you'll stay in it.
 
Karenn, when are you using the ketostix, as someone gave me a tip to only use them in the morning, else with all the water drinking they can be very near or be neg later in the day which is a good thing.

Hi there, I'm currently on Lipotrim but thinking of coming over to Exalted so have been checking out this forum to do a bit of research before I take the leap! I'm sorry you're suffering not being in K yet but can't tell u how glad I am that I've found somebody else with my problem! Done exactly the samr as u and yest on Day 6 I was still ridiculously hungry! I've posted a few times about but advice is just stick with it, when ur in K u def won't feel hungry but I'm seriously starting to doubt it and am so disappointed cos I relied on this being the thing that wud get me thru, there's no way I cud carry on feeling like this every day, hence wondering if I'd b better doing WS on Exante?!

I'm actually on day 7 2day but weigh in tom cos actually started half way thru last Thurs and not feeling too bad after morn shake but will have 2nd around 2.30 and know I'll b starving again by then and then hungry for the rest of the day thereafter!

What day r u on now and how u feeling?

I still feel hungry in ketosis, my body craves the act of eating and digesting food - not sure its real hunger and it was the reason I fell off the wagon the other week. This is the reason I have decided to AAM on my worst days and I use the W8 AAM list so I stay in KT. I personally have never used ketostx, didn't want to go down that route but the best time of day to test is first thing in the morning when your urine us more concentrated. If you are drinking 4l plus if fluid a day it is pointless because your urine us too dilute. I don't really get the taste in my mouth, I think it's because I drink so much. I rely on my DH and kids telling me my breath stinks! Charming I know!
 
I think the AAM is a really good buffer to have, and everyone should keep it in mind instead of really really struggling. I am going to always AAM on a Saturday, as it worked out so well for me to do that, gives me something to look forward to as well. Where is the W8 list?
 
The W8 AAM list is as follows:

The correct way to use the following to make up ONE meal per day everyday for 1 week on an AAM week. It is NOT a list of items you can eat throughout the day.

3oz of the following:
skinless chicken breast (= not even a full one)
Lean ham, pork or Bacon - all visable fat removed!!
Quorn/Soya/Tofu
Plain Cottage cheese (low fat)
oily fish salmon/mackerel/sardines
turkey
lean mince (chicken, turkey or pork only)
1 medium egg - boiled or poached (not fried)
white fish/cod/shellfish/prawns/tuna(fresh/tinned in brine or water)

Unimited (at that meal)

Broccoli, chicory, bamboo shoots, lettuce, spinich, asparagus, courgettes, fresh garlic, Balsamic Vinegar, alfalfa sprouts, rasishes, cauliflower, watercress, celery, fennel, marrow, herbs, tabasco, peppers, cucumber, leeks, rocket, cabbage, pakchoi, mushrooms, spices, salt and pepper.

Stay away from tomatoes and onions - high carb!!

I use a 1/2 pack to make sauce - e.g. thai to make a stirfry and serve it with mashed cauliflower

By sticking to the above you will remain in ketosis and it shouldn't affect your weightloss too much!

I plan to AAM using the list at the weekends so I can have a family meal with my kids! I was brought up in a diet culture, my mum sold a slimming drug and I really believe that I am over weight on the back of that. My kids (6&4) don't know I'm on a diet, I try not to mention it around them. Its harder this time as my 6 year old is asking questions like 'why are you having soup again?' so if I have a AAM occasionally during the week and at weekends I sm hoping to keep the questions at bay.

I do this too! Think too many people worry that its cheating as such but for me, to have a nice chicken salad to look forward to on a sat night is defo good. Keeps me on track the rest of the week haha xx
 
That sounds like a good idea. I was dreading the weekend, as Saturdays are usually curry night for us, but having read this, I think I may do a chicken salad for Saturday dinner only.
 
Its the all or nothing diet mentality. Why not AAM rather than break the plan completely, this way you can still feel good as its just part of the plan. The weight still drops off to, and your still in ketosis. Its win win :D
 
It used to be takeaway on a saturday for me too, so a nice wee chicken salad where i can still stay in ketosis is a good bet. It really does help having that little "treat" to look forward to :) x

Yes - I'd never thought of it like that, but I think it will help keep me on track. Already looking forward to Saturday now! :D
 
I used to feel guilty as well for doing a WS day but am beginning to accept that am doing this for me and in a way that works for me, and sometimes my crazy family. AAM IMO helps me not cheat.....
 
Ratty babe, why don't you have a Thai chicken curry instead of a salad on curry night. I use 1/2 a chicken breast, dry fried with red & green peppers (add 1/2 a green chilli if you like it hot) then add 1/2 a Thai chicken pack mixed with about 100 mls of water (add more for a runnier consistency) and stir fry a little more. I serve with mashed cauliflower as a substitute for rice. Yummy! I actually feel like I'm having a meal! Its worth experimenting cooking with the packs, you can add spices! Just a thought because I'm sure we'll all get sick of chicken salad. I'm going to try a few prawns next or chicken in a mushroom sauce.
 
I do AAM on a sat day, I don't see it as cheating it is my way of getting through the next 7 months. I've done 40 days I'm happy with my losses and I use the w8 list also. I think if this keeps you focused it's far better than a blow out. Good luck everyone
