Hi all, well started walking to loose weight on the 15th January 2011. I have cut my portion sizes down and not eating junk food. So far this is what I have done:

15th Jan - 5 miles
16th Jan - 4 miles
18th Jan - 4.5 miles
19th Jan - 2.33 miles
Was ill with a chest infection :(

29th Jan - 6 miles
30th Jan - 3.25 miles
31st Jan - 4.14 miles
2nd Feb - 6.42 miles
3rd Feb - 4.01 miles
Sprained my ankle coming to the end of last nights walk so have had to postpone my walking, will be back to it ASAP :)

So far I am feeling more positive and have lost 6lb just with walking and cutting my portion sizes :) Think I have found something that I can sustain and it is definatly working for me :)

I am using my Nokia sports tracker which gives accurate distance hence the 4.01's and the 6.42's, its definatly keeping me motivated and its good to see my progress, it spurrs me on :)

Finally back walking after spraining my ankle on Thursday, went gingerly like but still did well :)

8th Feb - 2.71 miles

Felt good to be out again, really enjoy it :)

I too use my phone. I have two things on it, one is a basic pedometer which is pretty accurate. That I use most days. Then I have a gps tracker but don't use it often as it eats the battery up. Due to gps my route again on 23rd. I walked at average 2.9 mph last month according to my gps tracker. The speed has increased since I started walking last December when it was 2.4mph. I do around 5 miles a day.

Well done! Approx what speed do you walk at, do you know? Xxx

Thanks :) ! I average about 3-4 mph depending on terrain and weather conditions :) I make sure I walk fast enough so I can still hold a conversation but breathy if you know what i mean, legs are killin me today! Am off out again in abit, just finished work so hoping for a 4 miler today :)

9th Feb - 4.07 miles 1 hr 14 mins

Thats fab! I use Endomundo and also sports tracker, they really keep me focused! Amazing how a few documented numbers can keep me on track haha, you are doing great, keep it up! :)

Well just got back from my walk :) Found it challenging tonight but nothing worth doing is easy :)

10th Feb - 4.71 miles 1hr 29mins SHATTERED! :)

Well done! I get scared, don't like walking in the dark :( 4 miles is good going? Does your little piece of techy equipment tell you how many calories you might have burnt? Xxxx

Thanks, hubby goes with me as I wouldnt go on my own, he is so supportive, yeah it said I burnt 646 calories, the walk has 3 decent inclines in it, i have put my weight and height in so it works calories out from that :)

12th Feb - 6.17 miles 1hr 54 min was a toughie today glad I did it though

Where do you walk, do you head for a specific point of do you just walk round & about your neighbourhood? Do you take the same routes each time?

Xx

Well the places I go are a racecourse, 1 lap is 2 miles, or I do a circuit round my town, its got good hills and decent flat for speed walking, when i have the energy lol, I usually go on the round town walks during the week then the racecourse at weekends or on my days off :)
