Hi guys,
Im pretty new and have my first taster morning at my group next Monday morning.
Consultant would like it to be Chinese based because its Chinese New Year.
Any ideas please.?
Was thinking of things like chow mein and rice dishes but its a morning class... 10am.... lol.

This is the only reason I am glad I go to an evening group, I cannot imagine wanting to eat dinner foods at that time of the morning.

That said, I converted a "salt and pepper chicken" recipe to be SW friendly, and that is really easy. Not sure how nice it would be cold but if you made it just before you went and wrapped it up in teatowels you could probably keep it reasonably hot.

I can't think of any chinese foods that are particularly morning appropriate but when I was in Asia we had rice for every meal so I wouldn't worry about that. How about something light like lemon chicken or one of the other meat dishes?

How about spring rolls? Stir-fry veg wrapped in filo pastry & baked in the oven.

Do an egg fried rice but make it more like a breakfast meal add bacon maybe quern sausages and some tinned tomatoes I have done this and it was lush x

I think the spring rolls are the way to go - you won't need to worry about cutlery as they are finger foods and who wants to have a main course dish in the morning anyway.

How about some tropical fruit sticks with fruits that you may get with chinese...pineapple, lychees etc

Not that chinesey I know...maybe ok for morning group though xx

It's hard cos Chinese breakfast consists of rice or deep fried stuff or pastries so it's a had one or ya! X

Of course it is only a taste of each dish and not a full blown sit-down meal!

I concur! Debby it would be great if u could whip up some breakfast spring rolls! How about rolling up scrambled eggs with finely diced veg and a little cheese? Bring salsa to dip them in! Yum-O!

What about a kedgeree?? That's sometimes even served as a breakfast dish (not in my house though Lol) It's smoked haddock and egg mixed with spicy rice, and completely delicious.

You can make it the evening before, and is nice hot or cold.

Sorry - just actually put my brain in gear. Kegeree is Indian, not chinese, so completely useless suggestion. xx
