Help? Cost of CD...

Hi guys

I'm supposed to be re-starting cd tomorrow (I have started today just using some old lt shakes until I see my CDC tomorrow)
I was just working out it will cost my £131.10 to get 69 that will take me up to my next pay day at the end of Feb.. I think it's a lot of money - I would never usually spend that on food.. I've still got 20lb to lose.. What should I do - buy the shakes and have no spare money for the month?
Then again if I'm on cd I won't be going out or need any spare money anyway...

Help?!?

i guess its about how important this is to you - you know it works and its only for a short time.
for me yes it is a lot of money but I cant put a cost on my health and have a reached a point where i need to do this!! nothing else works.
My CDC charges £1.85 per item.

I like to think of CD as an investment in my health and my future , so to me its worth every penny :) we actually find we spend the same or even save a little when I am on CD as we have no takeaways , meals out etc .. i was spending about £15 a week on pepsi max ..

Im so confused - I only have around £170 left for the month so the £130 on CD and the rest would just pay for my petrol to get to work.
I live with my brother at the moment and my evening meals are included in my rent etc and I have soup in work that cost 40p each day.
I really dont know what to do?
I stick to CD for a couple of week - get 7lbs away from goal - Ive waisted so much money before just to mess things up.

I just dont know what to do?????

Hi --

I think your CDC is little expensive.

You could consider doing an 810 plan instead of sole source. If your evening meals are included in your rent, then see if they can be created or adapted to suit a low fat, low carb 810 plan.

What I would consider doing is

A CD product Breakfast
The 40p soup at work as long it was low-cal/low-carb and not to high in sodium.
A CD product after work either before or after your 810 dinner.

And, drink your water, tea and coffees.

I would also ask my CDC for a discount for purchasing my products in advanc, thus saving her time and helping with her stock ordering.

I think 10% would be reasonable. So, offer her 79 pounds for 46 products, and see what she says.

This plan should still help you lose the weight, and might be more manageable, as well as, affordable.

And, it is step along the way to learning how to manage your food long term.

Good Luck.

have you thought of exante if your finances are too tight?

£100 for a 4 week supply if you get the bumper variety pack

ATM my CDC has an offer on lol 8 weeks at 30 a week, could you not pay weekly? Like save the money and then u only need to buy what u need each week?

I no! My CDC has soo many customers she wants to find a shop/flat just for cd as she's being over run lol

Thanks guys - I think I've just answered my own question though! I've just weighted in boots and I'm now 10st 11lb!! The last time I weighed I was 10st 4lb... I'm so fed up with my self :(
Back on cd tomorrow!

good luck, you'll be fine - i am in the same position, my boyfriend pays for everything food-wise (takeaways, dinners out, snacks, etc) so having to suddenly spend so much on food (Cambridge food) is a shock to the system as I have only £20 left to stretch over the month! But it's really worth it - I hardly do go out at the moment due to CD but it's only for a short period of time! Also the fact I spend soooo much on it means I have to stick to it or else!
well done for getting back on it :)

Thanks - I feel so down now.. Just spoke to my OH and explained that I'm going back on cd - he wasn't very happy.. He hates crash diets and thinks I should just eat less and go to the gym etc...

You sound exactly like me! I go back on it, get near goal and then fall off the wagon for a friend's birthday etc and never get back on it, then the next time I weigh I've gained something insane like 10lbs. I got down to 11 at my lowest weight and I'm now very near 13 so it just goes to show how easy it is to put on. I did weightwatchers for 2 weeks recently but my mind just keeps swaying back to cambridge and I love the quick weight loss, I just struggle getting back into it as I've been messing with it for about 2 years! Have you considered doing a low carb version of weightwatchers? You could go to the meetings so you have the fear of weigh in to make you stick to it? xx

Tried ww also tried low cal/low carb etc.. I feel like Cambridge is the only thing that works for me :(
Just had a good chat with my CDC and I'm gonna do SS for 2 weeks then asses the money etc
Wish me luck AGAIN!

Hi guys - I've had to cancel my app with my CDC for today - just went to take money out for my shakes and vodafone have taken 2 payments :( so I have even less money than I thought..

So I'm gonna do LT for a week cos it's about £10 cheeper than my CDC and I can get them next to work (I travel about 5-7 miles for cd)..

Let u know how I get at my WI after work :)

oh no - rubbish vodafone.
My cdc is same price as LT - maybe you could find a cheaper CDC?

There are all further away so would cost more in petrol :(

Good luck! :) It is a shame that these diets are so expensive. I can only afford to do a few weeks at the most, but its better than nothing I suppose. I'm also like you, just can't seem to get back into ww or sw, as I know how fast the weight comes off and thats what spurs me on and keeps me on the straight and narrow :D. Keep us posted x

Hi

I think you answered your own question in saying it's like a crash diet for you. This implies you use it to lose a few pounds and then go back to doing your normal eating? That's not ideal with CD and is just a waste of money IMHO

You need to really sit down and chat to your boyfriend about what you want out of this and then make a plan. If you are going to do CD you need to see it as a plan not a crash diet and see it through to the end and use it as a way to change your whole approach to eating and living etc. If you don't do that you'll stay on the merry go round you are on now and just feel more and more of a failure (in your own eyes).

If you decide to go for healthy eating and exercise then ask your OH to help you.. ask him to drag you out for a walk of the evenings instead of sitting on the sofa. Ask him to stop suggesting takeaways and get the 2 of you cooking together etc.

In both circumstances you will then make changes that are long term breaking this cycle.

Good luck

I do understand what your saying but I've never got to goal and when I come off cd the most I've put on it about 7lb.. So it's not like I've put a load of weight back on I've just never got to goal to start with.
I don't think as CD as a crash diet - my OH does.
Since i started a VLCD a couple of years ago i have changed my eating habits - I'm not really that unhealthy and don't do the take aways etc and me and my oh always have healthy(ish) meals like chicken, veg, root mash etc.. Even for the last month I've counted calories and not gone over 1200cal a day and still not lost any weight?
I just keep coming back to CD to try and get to goal and so far it's not worked because I've had to stop cos of money etc and I can't seem to get much lower than 10st..
Hope this all makes sence?
