Other people's eating habits

I've just got back from an amazing hen weekend (shocking food list on my diary is anyone fancies having a bash at totting up the syns!), and I found it interesting watching some of the larger ladies eating habits.

One of the very large ladies cooked breakfast and dinner and used 2/3's of a big bottle of Oil to cook everything (we had a full english for breakfast and fajita's for dinner), and I just found it strange as it wasn't an oil which added any flavour to the food, and the majority of the things we ate didn't actually need to be cooked in oil anyway. Actually, the thought of how much oil had been slung into our food unecessarily really made me feel ill (probably not helped by all the vodka!).

One of the other bigger ladies also barely moved from the sofa ALL DAY, rising only to go and get more junk food, but she was pretty much grazing all day on chocolate and big bags of crisps. I also noticed that if someone else came into the lounge with anything to eat, she would spot it and then go and get herself the same.

I think I just found it strange to see people eating for the sake of it, and how people turn relatively healthy food into greasy, oil laden meals when it's not needed. Not saying i'm perfect by any stretch of the imagination, I think because i'm dieting now I just noticed other people's eating and cooking habits more.

I know what you mean. I find myself peering into other people's shopping trolleys and I feel like telling them to put some of it back!

(I don't, of course.)

Theirs been times in the past where i would of had a meal out with friends, including pudding..and then going to the cinema and buying £5's worth of pick 'n' mix sweets..even when i was totally stuffed. Reason why..because they did, i just didnt want to miss out! Now i have some control over my eating habits..and it feels good to say that..as at sometimes, it was quite frightening to see what i packed away in one day.

It's true.!! The whole eating for the sake of eating thing.

16 of the ladies on my breast cancer support site met in London for a week a few years ago. We stayed in the home of one of the members. We were from all over the world. I rang Sainsbury's and explained what was happening and asked would they help us with the food. They donated the most amazing amount of party platters.
I watched in amazement as my lovely ladies ate for the sake of eating. Eating left over cake etc at breakfast and doing a non stop, marathon eat -in for the whole week.
It was such a fun time but left me with so much to think about.

It's certainly made me realise how much more control over food I have now, and I know there have been times in the past when I certainly haven't!

I also wondered if they were actually aware of what they were doing, whether each thing was 'just a treat', or if they just wanted to gorge because it was there - us humans are funny folk aren't we?!!

I know what you mean. I notice this alot at work.
I work with a couple of people who constantly complain about their weight but do nothing about it etc. But to see what some of them eat during the working hours is ridiculous. I cant help but notice it lol! xxx

This is me too.

I look at some trolleys and think oh my god! - even at my worst I have a more balanced diet than some.

Beer and crisps are NOT part of th five-a-day.

As for the ready meals.....

My other favourite pastime is calculating what the people at work eat in an average day - they even say how strong I am and how well I'm doing whilst stuffing biscuit or cake into their mouths - the irony is lost on them.

I saw some fellow sw group members on tesco who actually hid their trolly from me cos they were doing the chrimbo shop! If only they had peered in mine they would have seen it was equally non sw balanced!!! I had got some diet coke in there tho! Lol x

Once when shopping I reached for a pot of Quark and the lady before me just took last four pots, I looked at her and she said with apology that she is doing SW and she uses a lot of quark, i said i do it too so she gave me two pots and wished me all the best. How nice of her!!!!

I normally meet slimming world people when shopping at the muller light section , always look at me odd cos I bulk buy them,

I look in peoples trolleys too!! what annoys me is not when they r eating bad as adults make that decision for themselves its when u see children like my sons age (21 month) with loads of sweets and guzzling full fat coke. That annoys me as kids don't know and they r already setting their own children's up for an obese life x

Oh dear, the comment about the lady sat on her behind eating for the sake of it and never moving reminds me of someone I know... ME!
Not anymore *runs up and down the stairs a few times until the guilt fades*:D

I particularly enjoy spotting other SW trolleys... usually characterised by oodles of fruit and veg, Muller Lights and the biggest giveaway, quark!!
So true!

Nobody else has heard of quark - they think it is some obscure little furry animal I'm sure lol.

yes I always get my Muller Lights in packs of 10 - two weeks supply for work

I am nosey and I always have a peek in peoples trolleys. Like someone else said, it makes me sad seeing trolleys full with high fat/sugar foods and children sitting in the trolley.

I think where is the fruit! The moment I put fruit in a trolley my little girl spends the whole time asking for a banana or apple. That's thanks to our SW Lifestyle.

I want to ask them, where is your fruit! Lol

i was on training yesterday and thought of this thread. a very slim lady sat next to me and ate: a pain o chocolate, an orange, a share bag of crisps and a large bag of choc raisins all between 9.30am and 12 noon, she then had lunch !!! i ate my hi-fi bar....
