Hi.

First time here, been trying to lose weight for years - maybe this site and the great people seems to be here can finally help .

I'm a male, 20 years old since 2 days ago :) currently weight about 120 KG (donno exatly but google said this 265 LBS...), 1.92m (also according to google is 6 feet and 3.59 inches) and this is my story so far:

Since I was a yound kid I was a bit fat, always weighted more than I shouldve.
When I reached 7th grade it was discovered that I have ADHD so I started taking this pill called Ritalin witch, exept for making me get over the ADHD - made me fill full all the time, so I lost about 3rd of my weight and for about 2 years I was in a normal weight and felt like I was on top of the world.
Then I got bigger and the pills no longer had effect over me, so my doctor switched my pills from Ritalin to something similar called Concerta, which for some reason didn't have the same effect in the section of eating and that how I started regain weight until I was stabilised on about 90KG on second year of highschool. since then I went back and forth but always was something you can call "fat".
About a year and half ago I recruited the army and thats when I started gaining even more fat - food in the army, as much as it sometimes good - is really greesy and not so healty :) plus im on an office job so I come home every day, which means huge dinners... :(

I have tried, lord knows I did, for I don't know how many times - to start this thing thats called "diet", and every time I do - it's like it's good for about 4 or 5 days and then I start to eat again, I don't know why.
I guess this is also got to do with the fact that when I have those days that I decide "im starting loosing this weight NOW", I don't want to lose it slow, I want to see the resaults quick so I stop eating completely or eating only a very small amount of food on this days and thats why i'm breaking.
I have started to seek for pills on eBay that may be good - not something like those "magic pills" but just diet-supplament which can help you with the weight lose, either it helps you by helping metabolism or by making you feel fool when you eat some food only.
and then, when I start to look for people reviews on those pills, theres always this skinny doctors thats say "it's not good for you, you need to start a regular good and slow diet", and i'm thinking - who are you to talk? you never had a weight problem in your life, so it's easy for you to say "lose weight", you don't understnad how I feel, you just dont.
It's like my father who smokes tells me - it's so easy for those medical people from the stop-smoking orginizations to tell you to stop smoking, when they didn't touch a ciggarette in their lives - what do they really understand? only what they read on their medical papers when they studied to become doctors?

anyway, I am trully hoping that this community will finally be the solution im looking for for such a long time.
by the way - about the pills that i've mentioned - does any of them really works? or can even some help for the diet?

Thank you all for reading

Hi builds and welcome.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, if you want my honest opinion,NO !! I dont think these diet pills sold on the internet do work. They put cash into the pockets of those skinny doctors that tell you that you need them. There are some like xenical which are not available to buy ( at least not in the uk) which i know help to stop or reduce the absorbtion of fat from food, but I havent got any personal experience, although there is a sub section on the forum, you might want to have a look at the stories on there.
The best way is thru changing yours lifestyle to healthy eating with some activity. Alot of weightloss has to do with being in the right mindset and understanding why you overeat in the first place. I know I comfort eat when I am stressed or bored for example. Even small changes to start with can make a huge difference.
There are lots of good books out there that can set you on the right path, and lots and lots of excellent support on this forum.

Good luck and yell if you want to know anything !!

mommyB hello.

Thanks for the respond.
there is one thing that I saw on ebay that is also having a forum here and called slimfast - is this may work? or al least help a bit to start?

thank you again

Slimfast is ok, I've done that myself. They are meal replacement bars and shakes ( tho I stuck to just the shakes) you replace 2 of your meals a day with a shake and then have one proper meal, I seem to remember they suggest how many calories to have at that meal, but it was a while ago.
It would get you off to a start but I found I couldnt stick to it long term. Again there's a slimfast section on the forum where you can get more info.

Where are you based ?

Hey.

I live in Israel, and what you just described can work just fine to me.

As of today, usually my day looks something like this:

5:00 wake up
I usually drink some water before going out to the base
but I don't drink or eat anything until about
8:00 Coffee and maybe a slice of pie or something small
then I usually only drink water until
11:30 or 12:00 lunch
again only water or some diet coke until
14:00 snack
17:15 back home, eating something small to pass the hanger
18:00-22:00 (one time between them) dinner
then I usually get some snack and go to bad at 12:00

so basicly I only eat 2 regular full meals a day, the problems is the little snacks in the middle, but slim fast sounds great the way you described it - I can cut out entirly the snacks (it'll be a bit hard, but I think thats the point in starting a diet - it shouldnt be easy, is it?) and replace dinner with the shake and only have the lunch as a regular meal.

will it be ok?

Thats sounds fine Builds, looks like Slimfast would fit into your lifestyle well. As I said i didnt use the bars but i think you can snack on those if you really need to.

As for a diet being hard to begin with ? I'm not so sure about that , i think we are much more likely to stick at something that doesnt feel like a struggle, but obviously any change is going to feel odd for the first few days.
I am following weightwatchers for now which is based on 'real' food I can eat whatever I like within certain limitations, which suits me right now.

Hope the rest of your sunday is good ( not sure about the time difference LOL)

Hey.

time difference is only 2 hours, 14:34 here now.
Thats sound like what I'm going to do.

One more thing that I forgot to mention is that I got a real problem with exercises which is something I understand that I will need no matter what type of diet I will be doing.
The problem is that I sleep about 4-5 hours per night, and when I get home I usually just too tired to get up, put on some shorts and go out for jogging. What I thinking I can do instead is buying myself exercise bikes which will allow me to work out in my room - would a workout on something like that can replace the jogging?

Hi.

Yes, this is something that I understand that is crusial for the procces and of course that with this SlimFast my eating will change according to the plan given by SF (3.2.1) and I already ordered myself an exercise bikes a few hours ago and will start exercise more.

Thanks again

Hi again Builds. An exercise bike would be great, We used to own one and I would sit and 'ride' whilst watching tv, but I have to admit i am not a great lover of exercise either. But it doesnt have to be formal exercise- I walk these days and its just as good as anything else !!
