NOT HAPPY!!!!!

I have been 100% the last two weeks and exercising everyday and I don't seem to have lost any weight. I may have even put on a pound.

Feeling a little frustrated:cry:

what i've been told is that after an initial weight loss, there will be times where it will steady but if you stick to it, the losses will be greater in the long term.

Keep it Going!

:D

Thanks for your replies I have been following extra easy as I love my food. Have been eating loads of fruit - Drinking much more water that I'm used and have even given up my wine over the past two weeks. Fingers crossed the weight will come off soon

Have you got a food diary? It's often something simple like eating more, having more syns or mixing things up a bit, that can make a huge difference to your losses.

I can sympatheise with you as the same thing has happened to me this past few weeks. My losses have slowed down incredibly since starting exercising & I STS this week but I am losing inches which is good though I do wish the scales would reward me too. I know its disheartening but please do stick with it because I'm sure we will be rewarded in the long run. I feel soo much better in myself since starting exercising (made even better by dropping a dress size unexpectedly) so I'm trying to focus on the long term health benefits rather than the shorter term losses at the minute.

Good Luck :)

I do feel better in myself. My work trousers don't pinch me at the waist any longer. I feel slimmer but like you said I wish the scales would reward me also

Ahh, try not to be disheartened hon, It will work!

I am like you - when I go for it and exercise loads, I generally STS or lose only .5 for a few weeks and then it moves again.

The past 3 weeks I have done lots of exercise (spinning, running, swimming etc) and lost wk 1 - 0.5 & wk 2 - 0.5 when I would have liked more. My WI last night - I lost 3.5, so it will happen.

Carry on the good work x

What do you mean you may even have put on? Are you hopping onmthe scales midweek? We all know the reasons why we shouldn't do that - the main one being that whatthe scales say during the week bears no relation to what they will say on WI day.

But even if it does come to that pay no attention because as everyone has said it will likely just be down to water retention and soon resolve itself. You need to try and see the long-term picture rather than getting so invested in weekly weigh-ins.

When I got skinny first time round I found that I was losing inches even when the scales stayed the same. The more exercise you do, the more muscle you build up. Muscle weighs more than fat apparently, but it helps you burn fat. So as long as you are following the plan 100% and moving your butt, it should all work out fine in the long run. Focus on the non-scale postives in the mean time. I bet there are lots. :)

This has happened to me too! I know losing inches is fantastic however I still want to see it in the scales too... I just want to be able to see the scales say 9 stone something so after 5 tough spinning classes and sticking to the plan and then only seeing a 0.25lb loss I can't help but feel disheartened too

If I have a similar loss or sts on Tuesday I think I might try and avoid the scales for a few weeks and focus on my shape instead (sounds easy but I bet it won't be!)

Ive been sticking and STS and gained etc, throughout the last 3months (on hormone treatment) and its disheartening, this week i am REALLY mixing things up! x

Nope, muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. A pound of fat weighs a pound, a pound of muscle weighs a pound ;)
It also takes a lot of work to build muscle too.
Exercise will tone you up and make you feel better. We all expect it to help the weight fall off but in reality it doesn't help that much.
I think that sometimes your muscles can hold onto water which can result in a smaller loss, for that reason I'd never do a class right before WI.

We all need to stop expecting the weight to drop off us because we have exercised and focus honestly on the food side of things.

I must also say, the first thing I thought was what you meant by you thought you hadn't lost anything. When is your WI?

Good luck, stick with it :D

I really dont think any of us expect the weight to drop off of us which is why we invest in a great deal of time at the gym trying to help the weightloss along so when you STS it can be disheartening.

Dont expect any miracles and this forum is a great place for support when you need some advice when other people may have been/or are experiancing the same thing x

I have to disagree, I think people do expect exercise to make the weight drop off.
So many times people post "I've done x,y,z exercise this week and I've not lost". It becomes about the exercise and not about the food.

All I'm saying is that the exercise shouldn't even come into the equation. It's a health bonus and not a weight loss bonus.

The same size piece of muscle weighs more than a piece of fat (of the same size) - thats what people mean when they say "muscle weighs more than fat". So you could lose inches and still weigh the same in theory.

Anyhow back to the problem - are you eating too much fruit? You're supposed to snack on fruit if you're hungry not because you like it.

Better snacking on fruit than high syn stuff, whether that be physical hunger or emotional hunger.

To be clear, there are a few fruits that do not class as speed or superspeed foods, that *some* people find that eating an EXCESS of may impede their losses.

Bananas are often cited as an example of this - but I dont personally eat bananas so cannot speak from personal experience.

However, I really DONT think putting people off eating fruit is a good idea, whatever their motivation for doing it. It is a far better idea to eat fruit to kill an emotional or physical hunger than it is to knock back an entire box of thorntons.

Completely agree MLM. I don't think we should encourage people to not eat fruit. Fruit is fine. SW never say to not eat fruit, they actively encourage us to eat it and sometimes we need to eat!
I do eat bananas and grapes, which also get a bad press, I'd rather do that than eat biscuits!

I certainly wasnt trying to put the op off fruit if thats how it came across!!

She said she eats "loads of fruit" - now if you're eating your 3 meals a day, syns and then eating 3 bananas, 5 satsumas, a bowl of grapes, 4 apples etc etc then of course thats going to impact on weight loss

Has anyone ever heard a consultant say to reduce fruit?
I think they'd tell you to eat more superfree with meals, cut down on syns, vary your foods etc.
My consultant(s) have never ever said to reduce fruit.
I just think the OP is having a bit of a plateau. The first two weeks were fine, she just needs to keep with it!

I just wonder why we always advise people to cut down on fruit (and lots of people do this, you are not alone!), why don't we just say that it is what it is, nothing is really wrong and to keep on trying.
