Mini Mins Newbie

Hi all, newbie here, it's only by accident I stumbled across minimins forum and what a great source of inspiration and information it is!! To think how i've struggled over the years and didnt know you all existed (oh where have I been?????).

I'm a newbie to minimins but not to dieting, tried every diet known to mankind but always gave up, however my biggest success story was CD 2 years ago and lost 3 stone (size 16 to 10) and overtime has crept back on (I swore i'd never allow that to happen ). Im giving Atkins a whirl for a month and seeing how it goes but may have to re-visit the VLCD option and take out food completely because i'm impatient-lol!

Second weigh-in this Monday and I have to say ive really enjoyed the food so far, the only thing I am struggling with is no milk in my morning cup of milky tea, any suggestions anyone? It's funny the things you crave, never thought a simple cup of tea would be one of them.

Thanks for listening x

Hi and welcome. Well done for losing 7lb in your first week, thats fab! I know some have soya milk in tea and have said that once you get used to the taste its fine. Sorry I can't help anymore than that but I don't actually like milk. I drink black Earl Grey or coffee.

Hi and welcome, have you read the stickies at the top?

i'm doing soya, its taking a while to get used to the taste and find one that doesn't 'curdle' but hopefully it's worth it for the lower carb content.

Thanks dietkitty, I will try soya milk, never had it before. I like coffee during the day, but the first cup of the day for me has got to be a giant cup of tea with full fat milk :boohoo:. Got to learn to love something else!

Hello Jim, thank you for pointing me in the right direction, reading the stickys now.

Hi Weeney

I'm the same, must have a cup of tea to start the day off - and moved from milk to unsweetened soya (either Alpro or Tesco organic) - and now i don't notice the difference.

There is a trick with coffee, though, as soya milk reacts to the coffee itself. Pour the water in and leave it to sit for a minute, then add the milk.

But to really succeed on Atkins, you need to be drinking lots and lots of water. :)

i have skimmed milk in my tea, just count the carbs

Have you tried redbush/rooibos tea - you don't need milk in that at all - and it is lovely to drink. Welcome :D

Really? never noticed that, but it will help with getting the water down :D

~Right - off to bed for me, tired tired tired zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
love you lot loads xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope you are managing to keep to your chosen diet regime. It's hard work and a grind sometimes but well worth the effort. Keep visiting mm's and posting and reading all the great advice etc.
All the best to you!

Hi Weeny - hope you will stick with us. I'm hoping to change my diet for life rather than go on a diet - so far this looks doable!

Thanks Emmaline, I love this forum everyone is so very supportive. I am definately sticking with Atkins after having a serious chat with myself., anyhow ive just discovered MIM say no more! x

I cant tell the difference with soya milk in my tea. Dont have it in coffee as have it black anayway. Welcome x

Your right Kat1e, it is about changing your eating habits for life. Ive done VLCD and been very successful but when you re-introduce real food thats when i struggle, my weight has been up and down like a yo-yo since coming off CD and im affraid im a little partial to food other than lettuce!!

Doing Atkins I am learning to eat real food and the right things to maintain ketosis, so my thinking is ........once I reach goal, I sould be more successful keeping it off!! :D x
