Hi all,

Ok I have a confession to make.

Bascailly i lost 4lbs in my 1st week and and 4lbs in my 2nd week.

I have been 100%...well 99%

You see i have been chewing gum...only because I can't handle the bad breath and my chemist said that they werr not given breath strips to give to customers and didnt know that they did them...

I think thats whats been hindering my chances of losing more.

I havent had any gum since Sunday and have brought the breath sprays instead.

Do you think chewing gum has stopped me losing more?
 
When my pharmacy didn't have breath strips in, she told me to chew sugar free gum.. I asked if she was sure it was ok on LT and she said it wasn't really allowed, but not for the sake of LT, but because chewing gum makes you produce more saliva which makes your stomach think food is coming, which makes you hungry.... That makes people eat after chewing gum, which obviously defeats being on LT!! lol x x
 
To be perfectly honest, no, I doubt it. Whilst the gum may knock you out of ketosis, if its sugar free it won't have enough carb to make a difference (its the citric acid that affects ketosis that's why we can't have sugar free stuff or fruit teas etc). It could be any manner of things, constipation, water retention, your body struggling to adjust to the new routine, sedentary lifestyle (where relevant), low base metabolic rate etc. Always keep in mind that regardless what diet you do you must burn 3500 calories by any means more than you consume to lose just 1 pound of fat. So, for example, if your BMR was 1500 per day and you stuck to LT 100% and did zero activity you'd lose just over 2lbs (1500*7 - 420*7 / 3500). However, if your BMR was 2000 per day and you stuck to LT 100% and did zero activity you'd lose just over 3lbs that week (2000*7 - 420*7 / 3500). Same diet, same activity, different BMR, that's why you can't compare your losses with others.

Try not to worry, keep at it and you'll keep losing. Hope that helps x
