of weight on slimming world how much have you lost and how long did it take you to lose?

i want to ideally get to target april 2012 i have a long way to go and alot to lose but i was wondering how you all got on?

Well i joined in October 2009 and before my xmas gain i had lost 4 stone. If you are 100% all the time and do exercise you will do really well.

I would say not to think of the long term plan, but think half a stone at a time - or a sticker at a time, or a milestone at a time. There are so many mini goals you can set yourself along the way!

For example, half a stone, one stone, 10% award (Club 10) reducing you BMI figures, hitting a certain percentage of weight loss, getting under 250lbs, getting under 200lbs.....

If you take small steps and set small goals - the bigger picture will just come together!

Good luck xxxxxx

i have around 10 stone to lose and have lost my first stone in 7 weeks and that included a 6lb gain over christmas, so i probably would have lost my first stone in 5 weeks. i'm aiming to stay on SW for at least the next year or 2 *gulp* ....seems so far away, but i know if i keep on as i'm doing now i will have a great loss. if i stay in control over birthdays, holidays, etc. then i will keep losing.

Hiya
I am on week 38 and Im now down 7st 5lbs ...this is the most consistant I have ever been (and its my first go on SW as an adult -although I have done most other "Diets" :p).
I really think, that for me at least the best change I have made is to accept that I will be eating this way for the rest of my life (which is no biggy as I love it and you couldn't pay me to come off it :D). I didn't set myself a goal date as I figured I "would get there when I get there" -so no pressure ;) and it has really made it easier and some how that has made my results better :D.
I know its not easy when you have lots to lose -or any amount really -but I have been telling myself from the start that "any loss is a step in the right direction"
Hope you find its a plan that works for you too!

caramumofmany, i am just the same as you, i joined this week and weigh 1lb more than you. i would love a miracle and it to come of quickly but not many miracles happen, i just became a new mum and taking 7lb at a time.
i wish you all the luck for your weight loss and 7lb was a great start

i'm not expecting any miricles, just wanna hear some inspiration stories from the larger ladys or what were the larger ladies

I lost 3.5 stone in the first 22 weeks but since then (weeks 23 - 41), I have gone up and down with the same 10 pound to the point I am back where I was in week 21.

A mixture of complacency, illness, diet boredom, xmas and various other excuses had caused a blip but as of this week, I am back on it 100% and so am expecting a good loss.

In those first 22 weeks I lost in 19 WIs, gained in 2 and only missed one class when I was away on holiday.

In these last 19 weeks I have lost in 8 WIs, gained in 6 and missed 5 (one through holiday, one through illness).

Moral of the story - keep going to class to get fresh ideas and to stay motivated with help from others.

hi, i started about 3.5 years ago, i have got fed up, tried to do it meself, tried ww, but, always come back to sw, i've now got about 4stone left to lose, had a very sceinc journey, and last year actually managed to maintain my weight. I have kept a size 30 coat which was tight, and, every time i want inspriation try it on. Good luck with you're plan you can do it;)

I started last week in august 2010 so my first loss was in the first week in september, I have lost 5st 8lbs since then but I have had some bad weeks, the 2 over christmas / new years being bad with only 1lb in that fortnight..

I'm quite a bit larger than you though and a bloke so it all depends on your metabolism and exercise ( the extra weight on me is extra exercise with every single step.. like you carrying a rucksac full of bricks everywhere you go.. )

I started in July last year and have lost 3 stone 8lbs .... In that time I have only gained 1/2 pound twice which I could only put down to exercise as I had been 100% but never mind ..... When I started at 17 1/2 stone ... I was mortified but I have taken things 1/2 stone at a time ... focusing on the next half of stone has really helped ... Im also looking at this like I will be on this for life as opposed to a quick fix because I struggle to maintain my weightlosses.

Good luck on your weight loss journey and I am sure u will do very well xxxx

Hi caramumofmany,

I re-started SW at beginning of this year and my weight was 1.5lbs less than yours. My goal date is Feb 2012 as I will be Maid of Honour at a Caribbean wedding in the March! Eek!

I am taking it 5lbs at a time, want to lose that much per month til then.

Good luck for your journey

x

I started slimming world December 1st 2008. I called target middle of October (for the third time since June in ever decreasing targets) after loosing dead on 15.5stone. Since then - i've had a few blips - and currently sit (as of last weeks weigh-in) at half a lb outside of target range (so 15st3.5 lost).

We would all however like the magic fairy to come along and wave her wand and make all the excess weight disappear - however, from experience, wishing for that makes it seem like it'll never happen and that you may as well not bother. Instead - always look to the next mini-target - be it the next half stone award, or some event sometime in the future that you'd like to be at a certain weight for (but make sure it's realistic - no point setting impossible targets - just one that is going to be a slight challenge to get to - asking to loose 50lbs in 10 weeks if you're averaging 2lb a week weight loss is pointless - challenging yourself to loose 25lb though can be done).

That way - you're always aiming for something that you can see in the near future as being possible - not something that is so far away that may seem impossible.

The other thing i would add here is that as your journey continues there will be weeks you don't hit your desired weekly weight loss - but just remember how far you've come in the time already travelling this road and what that averages out at, rather then dwell on what is to come ahead.

thanx for all the replys its really good to hear and read such motivation, my next weigh in is wednesday evening, my next bench mark is my 1st award, got my 1/2 stone award in my first week...

wow what fantastic loss, can't wait for the weight to start coming off me again

I'm in week 39 and have lost just over 4.5 stone so far. I had a similar start weight to you and can't really believe how far I've come in 9 months or so. Although I still have a long way to go the benefits are already immense - I'm now shopping for size 18's (sometimes even 16's!!) and get lots of compliments on how well I'm doing, all of which keeps me motivated and determined! Good luck with your losses x

how fab well done you xx, feeling good tonight had a great work out am now gonna hop in the bath before bed )
