I've only ever heard of 5-15 per day before.

I's stick to 15 syns per day if I were you. Still at max of the 'normal' syn range, but because it's the lower end of what has been suggested to you you should have good losses. That's just my thought though..

Our starting weights are similar eilidhsmummy, and I was offered the same. My C soon took the extra syns away from me when I lost weight :cry:I wish sometimes she would give them back lol
 
I have heard of a few people who have been given more syns to use before, but that was before extra easy came in. I seem to recall one lady who had a lot to lose was given about 30.

In theory if you have a lot of weight to lose then you can still take in more calories and still lose weight, but I just don't think it encourages healthy eating habits when there's so many free foods available instead. I guess that's probably why it's not something that sw suggest, just the individual consultants.
 
I've seen people given extra syns starting off, then reduce them as they lose weight. It seems really sensible to me so I would use them if it was me and they had been recommended by your Consultant.
Slimming World have given the Consultants discretion as to when to give these extra syns.
 
Although it sounds a lot, remember the extra 5 syns are only about 100 calories, and if you have a lot to use you might need to use them on denser calorie foods to make sure you are eating enough. The plan makes good use of low cal satisfying foods, but if you are larger, the average calories you eat on plan might not be enough and you won't lose the weight.

I personally believe that you would still loose weight, from experience the people who I have met who have been a little larger, have still stuck at 15 syns but eat alot more free foods and still loose weight, and loose weight continually. I have only ever heard of this once, a guy who said he was given upto 35 syns a day (!) but I thought this was a little mad and he never lost weight. That is alot over the 15 so I wasnt suprised. Having them taken away just associates it in my head with WW where they take points away.

Syns are you choice to how many you have. I try to stick to 10 a day because then I know I have the flexability to go upto 15 syns, but I have known people who cant cope with less than 15.
 
i have LOTS to lose and when i joined SW a few years ago my consultant suggested i could have 20 syns a day and that i could "get away with it!!!" so i trusted her and had a rubbish first week. i reduced my syns to 10-15 and started losing.

the consultant was around 20 stone and kept joking about falling off plan and gaining, etc. which wasn't very inspirational or motivating. she used to make the excuse that she was struggling just like the rest of us...... i thought consultants were there to motivate and encourage us to follow the plan!
