Hi there everyone.

I joined my local class on Tuesday to try and do something about my weight. Even though I knew I was heavy I still had a bit of a shock when the scales said I was 33st.

So now its time to do something about it. Hoping to use the forum to gets lots of advice as I go along, and look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome to the board Paul. Well done on taking the bull by the horns by starting sw. Good luck, the plan is great and I'm sure you'll love it!

welcome to the board you have made a great choice of diets. How are you getting on so far? Ask as many questions on the board as you need to and always brag about your successes it always helps to have lots of support and the more you post the more people will get to know you.

Welcome! You joined just the day after me. I'm already finding out just what a supportive bunch everyone on this forum is. It's definitely a real push in the right direction and, I'm sure, will help with the motivation when things get tough!

Just remember... you CAN do it!

Hi and welcome.

I know what a shock it can be finding out how much you really weigh, I was only a bit less than you when I started in April but as long as you stay on plan it does really work. It's very rewarding to seeing those scales go down each week!! Good luck.

I know it seems as though you have a mountain to climb at the beginning but the plan really works and you will soon see the benefits of sticking to it which will motivate you even more. Good luck!

Good luck Paul and Welcome to SW and minimins xxx

Good luck Paul - although Im sure you wont need it. The plan works so - if you stick to it- you won't go far wrong! x

Hello Paul, welcome to the board. Good luck. We'll be with you every step of the way :)

Thanks for the welcomes guys, its much appreciated.

I sometimes wonder if I will ever get to a weight I want to, especially from this size. The lowest I ever remember being is about 18st, and that was 13 years ago.

We were invited out for tea last night as a preplanned thing. It was a disaster. What was originally looking like a pretty healthy tea turned into all 15 syns. However I hadnt known this until I totted it up this morning. So I was pretty gutted when I added the bowl of cereal on that I had before bed as I was peckish and pushed the days syns up to 23. And Im only on Day 2!!

The salad and the chicken and bacon in the tea were fine, it was the bread, the sauce for the chicken and bacon and the garlic on the potatoes that it turns out have done me no good whatsoever. Pretty gutted really as I hadnt consumed a syn all day until tea, then blew all 15 in one go, and unknowingly added to it when I got home.

You did well for a first day so it's all good.

Honestly, it's not the end of the world!
You can't stop going out for dinner with friends because you are changing your habits. Remember, it is that - a change of lifestyle, not a diet! So, you didn't stick to plan yesterday - just try hard to stick to it today!

Honestly to me it does now sound too bad there is quite a learning curve to go through the first week.

Also always have plenty of free food to snack on when nighttime munchies hit

yogurts
fruit
mug shots/savoury rice (most batchelor's are free)/low fat super noodles
slices of ham
chicken drumsticks
pickled onions
etc

Excellent advice! I'm absolutely loving the free and superfree foods at the moment. Having joined on Monday, I am totally committed to a 100% week.

I'm already feeling better from NOT eating cr*p, although I do look wistfully at the chocolate and biscuits in the house. What I really like is the satisfaction of eating well, feeling healthy for it and not going to bed feeling bloated.

I am sure everyone has been in this position at one point or another, just dust yourself down and realise a bad day doesnt mean a bad week! try and reduce your syns for the rest of the week and that will hopefully balance it all out, it takes time to get used to a change of lifestyle but don't let it get you down all the best x
