3lbs second week?

Hiya

Just wondering about average weekly losses on SS. I lost 8lbs last week, had a sneaky wi this morning (official tomorrow) and I'm nearly 3lbs down. Is that a good loss for SS? I was expecting more. I have to admit I am having a splash of milk in my teas and coffees. Could that be slowing things down?

3.3lbs is the average weekly loss after your first week

My stats are in my siggy

Hi Crystal, well done on your weight loss so far!

Right, first thing to say - Chele80's right - average weight loss on this diet is 3 to 4 pounds a week (depending on how much you have to lose - the heavier you are to start with, the more this is likely to be in the beginning).

But that doesn't mean that those 3-4 pounds lost will always show up on the scales. :(

Now, rest assured, if you've been 100% (and IMHO, I don't think a tiny bit of milk makes a lot of difference), you'll be losing 3-4 pounds of fat a week.

Unfortunately, for various reasons how much water your body is holding on to fluctuates all over the place - it can be affected by being a bit under the weather, being stressed, being hormonal - you get the picture. And water weight still shows up on the scales - they can't tell the difference, you see.

So that's why some weeks (after the first week), you'll lose 6 pounds one week and 1 pound the next. Over the course of a month, you can expect to lose a stone. Unfortunately, it's really unlikely it'll come off in even amounts each week.

Oh, and on this diet, funny things can happen. The scales may stay the same for 5 or 6 days at a time - and then all of a sudden, overnight you can drop 2 or even 3 pounds (that's the water suddenly dropping off). Ah, it's all good fun. :)

Let us know how you get on, okay?

From the losses I have been looking at....people typically have a slightly lighter loss in week 2, than they do for the rest of their journey.
3lb is good though if you keep that up its 12lb every 4weeks, which is approx a stone a month!

Hi CrystalG --

What everyone has said so far sounds right to me. I just had my second week weigh in and my loss was about 3 pounds.

As I have SS'd to goal before -- I know that because I am not a big person and I am older (49) that my losses slow down a lot. So, in order to keep losing at a decent rate I have to increase my exercise. But, that is hard to maintain in the long run.

Good Luck to Us Both!!!

Lily says it well... good to be reminded of how it works with the water weight! You have done brilliantly already, Crystal... but the first weeks loss is always exceptional and things go more steadily after that. It's still a very good loss, and better than most other diets could offer, so chin up and be proud... you are getting there!

Thanks guys, that's reassuring to hear, could be water retention but like most of you say second week losses are typically lower, just been a while since I did this so didn't know what to expect.
Thanks Minniemel, Ive ordered the 30 day shred DVD so planning to start that but not anything too strenuous. Yup good luck to all of us :)
