Am I being too ambitious?

Is wanting to lose 2st by May a bit too ambitious or too high a target?

Hi welshgirl,

I think the target is certainly possible. It would require a sustained effort (it's only just under 2lbs a week which I think is at the upper end of what SW says is 'average') however as you are near the beginning of your journey there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't achieve it.

I'll do my sensible bit (as I say many times on here !) that if you are the kind of person who responds well to a challenge but if you're falling short that will be ok and you will keep going to get as close as possible, then absolutely go for it. If you're the kind of person who will give up if you're not likely to achieve it rather than looking at what you have managed even if it's not target, then consider setting yourself a slightly easier target and then up it if you hit it much earlier. I prefer to set smaller targets and then increase them if things go well but everyone is different here.

Good luck.

Thats really reassuring to know it can be done and someone is aiming for a similar target. I've enjoyed being back on plan this week and been to the gym 3 times; did a 3-4k run and 5k cycle each time.

We're planning our evening meals for the week which is making a huge difference and giving us more variety too.

The average weightloss on sw is apparently 1.5lbs a week, which would more than get you to your target!

I'm aiming for 2 st by June, and think that the only way I'll manage it is with lots of exercise combined with the SW plan.

It's working well at the moment though. Since I've upped my exercise I feel more hungry at the meal time after the exercise, but other than that seem to be naturally eating smaller portions (even leaving a little food some mealtimes - unheard of!!).

Make sure you take your measurements as well Welshgirl...doing lots of exercise means you'll build muscle, so although that might distort your weight loss, you'll lose inches xxx

I would not worry too much about this as women do not generally have the hormonal make-up to build lots of muscle to the extent where it would affect losses

Also muscle burns more calories than fat not only when exercising but during normal daily work and leisure so it is all good :)

i agree it is possible, the last time i did sw i lost 2.5stone in 3 months and i was in ibiza for nearly 2 weeks all inclusive during that time and didnt stick to the plan at all. if you are determined you will get there... good luck :)

i lost 2 stones in 4 months too - so go for it. AND goood luck.

You can definately do it!!!! Go for it and good luck xxxx

Thanks all, am well on my way with the eating now and did a 5k run at the gym today.

If it hadn't been for xmas I'm sure I would have achieved 2 Stone by now. I'm 2lb away after 3 months so definately doable.

Totally go for it!! I think it's good to be ambitious, but you're not being totally ridiculous about how much you want to lose in the time frame you have set.
Good Luck! X
