How are we all?!?

Ey up Everyone!

Been a while since I've been on. I lost 4 stone then decided to have a break before carrying on. I'm impressed that I found it relatively easy to keep the weight off even though I wasn't officially dieting.

However, new year new start! Blew out over Christmas and New Year with the intention of getting back on it now which is what I'm doing. Got the half stone to lose that I've put back on over xmas first and then to tackle the last couple of stone before my wedding in August.

Thought I'd ask, whats your philosophy over the season? Blow out and know your going to have to work it off again (like me!). Diet all over the Christmas period (Boring!) or somewhere in the middle (probably the best option but not the one I chose!.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!!

Hello there Claire,

"....I found it relatively easy to keep the weight off even though I wasn't officially dieting....."

Well done you Claire. Losing four stone and keeping it off is my aim too. That is, I've lost four stone, all I have to do is keep it off.

My aim over christmas was to maintain my 4 stone loss, which I mostly managed, with just a one pound gain over the two weeks. This, despite having christmas dinner, christmas pud, alcohol, choccies, etc. However, I did limit my eating at other times to compensate, which I why I probably succeeded in maintaining.

I will also lose another couple of stone sometime this year, after practicing with the maintaining for a while longer.

What changes did you make after losing the four stone to enable you to maintain this loss, and not put on again? I am finding that maintaining is just the same as dieting, I have to be vigilent all the time.

Although it is getting easier to make compromises because now I am grateful to have choices, particularly after doing the 50/50 programme which restricted my choices a lot.

I am glad I didn't have a blowout but compromised and had some of what I wanted, but said no to myself at other times, and I am glad I didn't stay on the diet properly to lose weight because I would have missed out on some fun experiences.

It shouldn't take too long to get rid of that half stone, plus the other two, before your wedding in August (congrats, by the way).

Well done to you too, on the weight loss and being good over Christmas! Sounds like you struck the perfect balance!

I did a VLCD to lose the weight originally which meant that even when I wasn't dieting I just didn't eat as much as I used too. In addition, I got bit by the fitness bug while I was dieting and have kept up an hour of exercise 5 days a week for the past 8 months now which has definitely helped (didn't do it over Christmas though which is why the weight piled on!). I genuinely enjoy exercise now so it's been fairly easy to keep up.
Another habit that has stuck with me is drinking water and I've found that's really helped too. I used to drink numerous cups of coffee at work and now I have a 1l bottle of chilled water on my desk all the time.

I'm away from home on a course for the next two weeks where all the meals are prepared for me so I intend to make the healthiest choices and use the on site gym daily to try and shift the half stone I've put on ready to tackle the remaining couple of stone when I get back.

I'm quite looking forward to getting back on it properly after all the rubbish I've been eating lately!

Good Luck maintaining!
