Awaiting News re a TT on the NHS!

I thought I would Christen this new area of the forum ;)

I have currently lost between 7-8st over the last 2 yrs (not sure of exact amount as I wasn`t really tracking my weight at first). I have done a bit of everything inc various diets and lots of exercise to get where I am now. My last diet was 810 plan but I gave myself a break in the summer. I have not started it again today to lose the last of my weight. I gave myself breaks over the 2 yrs and I felt it kept me on track having a bit of time out every now and then.

I have 4 children and have had two major abdominal surgeries - 1 whilst I was 16 weeks pregnant with my youngest, Where they also had to rupture my bladder (to go round my little one) as I had a ruptured appendix and a tumour. I then had my 2nd surgery which was a c-section to have her.

All of these things together mean that my poor tum is absolutely FUBAR!!! :(

When I was larger (and now :( ) I kept getting infections along my scar and since losing my weight, I have started getting infection in my tummy button :( I went to see my GP for cream for my tummy and thought I would bite the bullet and ask about a TT. My GP is lovely and agreed right away to refer me :D as she has been with me along my journey.

Sadly, I was denied funding last month :( BUT I also got to see the Plastic Surgeon and his Reg who both have agreed I definately need the surgery as diet/exercise is not going to help :( As a consequence, They have agreed to help my GP and I appeal for funding. I was gutted when I saw them, As I had been told I needed a BMI under 30 so I didn`t bother losing that last stone meaning my BMI was 27 when I saw them. As it turns out, I need a BMI of 25 or under. I now have 6 months until I see them again as I need to have maintained the BMI of 25 for this time hence I am back on 810 plan to lose it asap and I will spend the rest of the time maintaining as I seem to be "ok" doing so.

I have had a copy of the letter the PS sent to my GP, So I am going to leave it a couple of weeks then I will phone her to see how the land lies. I am hoping that the appeal is done immediately so that WHEN I go back a lot lighter ;) I can be given a date there and then IF I have won my funding.

I am aiming to lose a couple of stone so that I am well under the 25 to allow for any slight gains in the mean time as I would be devestated if I went back to hospital and was still too fat!!

Anyway, Will stop rambling now! Just thought I would share my journey

Xxx

My fingers are crossed for you Sacred! :fingerscrossed:

I've been looking for this part of Minimins, especially since I have loads to lose. Whilst I'm far from it being an immediate problem, it would be nice to see how people who have achieved their target weight and need post-weight loss surgery get on.

I find that there are very few stories relating to the state of post-weight loss skin with people with as much to lose as me. The closest I've seen so far has to be Kiira (Piink Punk) who has been lovely enough to post pics of her arms and stomach after losing 17st.

I do hope all goes well for you Sacred, do keep us posted! I've decided to photo-document my losses too. Maybe my journey could help someone else too.

Thankyou for the crossed fingers x Sadly, I need them :sigh: I am just hoping that the support of the surgeon will help with my appeal :) I will post more when I know more in the hope that it can help others going through similar.

I haven`t had too much trouble with the rest of my body. It`s virtually all tummy though the tops of my thighs are a bit "wobbly" and I wonder if that is down more to skin now I`ve lost weight or if it`s still fat. I will eventually ask the PS, But didn`t want to push my luck and look like I was after a free ride with everything.

The PS told me that the only reason they will even contemplate surgery after weight loss is if you have a medical need. They will not consider it for cosmetic reasons. This may just be my PC criteria though. You also have to be an "exception" :sigh::(

I am a bit worried that I won`t hit a BMI of 25 as whilst I could lose a bit of podge, I`m not HUGELY overweight :( Most of my weight IS my tummy  But I am going to give it my best shot!

Kiira is an inspiration! It is amazing how much weight she has lost!!

Good luck with your journey Xxx

**Edited to add - The photos in my siggy are a starter photo of when I SERIOUSLY started keeping a track of my weight where I was roughly 17 and a half stone :/ And the 2nd photo is from July when I was 11st 5.5lbs and I decided to take a break from dieting/exercising.

As you can see from my photo, I struggle to get clothes to fit due to my tummy :( My trousers are huge everywhere else as I need them larger to fit over my tum!

Having restarted my diet today, I am hoping to get to 10st! x

good luck. i hope you get your tt. i would love to get lipo on my thighs as even when i had a bmi of 19.2 i had heavy thighs[sadly i am now 2 stone heavier again]...thing is i can't afford it

anyway sorry

Good luck....... hope your appeal goes well.

I really need a tummy tuck, I lost 5 stone and have had 10 children, 3 of them being caeserean so my stomach is totally totally gross..... it just hangs like a big apron. My doctor said there was no way would the trust fund a TT for me....

Wowwwwweeeeee Greeneyes...TEN children?!!! And you've already lost 5st?!? I think that warrants a virtual high five! :D

Thanks for the supportive posts Xx

"Stupid" (don`t like calling you that :( lol) your weight is low, Surely you don`t need to diet? x I am worried bout my thighs :( They a bit flabby at the top and I think they`ll only get worse the more weight I lose

@GE, Is this your drs opinion?? I would say that you want him to apply anyway. Sure they might knock you back, But you`ll never know if you don`t try??! I find some gps are really obstructive! Good luck hunnie, You deserve it xX

I would kill to have a tt though not right now as I have some weight to lose.

I did actually lose a chunk of weight after daughter was born. Two c-sections in 20 months did most of the damage though my mum has a similar problem and she had us 2 naturally so maybe it's in the genes as well. It never occurred to me to ask my GP last time - I automatically assumed I'd be knocked back for vanity but truth told it's affected every aspect of my life for the past 15 years. My then husband found it so repellent our marriage eventually fell apart and I'm terrified to even think about meeting anyone else for fear of the same reaction.

Interested to see how you get on - and whether some areas of the UK are more tt friendly than others.

I would definately ask them to refer you. All they can do is say no right? :)

I spoke to my GP the other day as I didn`t know what happens next with an appeal. She said she hadn`t done anything as she hadn`t heard from me which is fair enough.

She feels that it isn`t worth sending the appeal in until I am at my goal weight/BMI as they`ll probably just automatically deny me again for not being at goal which I agree with.

I`m a bit sad about it as it takes me so bloody long to lose weight :( I have such a rubbish body!! But I WILL get there!!

I`m about 11lbs off that goal, and am going to join a RC class in the next week or two as they include a 45 minute work out/dance as part of the session and exercise is what I need more than dieting as I`m quite sensible with my eating :)

My other problem area I`ve noticed is my thighs :( They`re getting a bit flabby at the top  I`m hoping with exercise I can sort it, But I`m not so sure

I wore shorts for the first time for YEARS last Weds for a works do. We went bowling and I was :bliss: that I was in a size 12 pair so I bought them!!

Ignore the state of me\the room, I`d just got out the bath  LOL

Yep, totally agree with this, I still have a way to go, but it really worries me about the excess skin - although would rather that than flab hee hee

10 children, you must be super mum xx

-----------------------------------------------------

OP - you look fab in the shorts

xx

Oh wow, it's been YEARS since I wore shorts. You look fantastic!! Actually that's another problem area for me - pregnancy was bloody mean to me all told. :D Thread veins, stretch marks and a saggy tum ... what a catch eh? **snorts**

I actually have a very good female GP. She's likely to help ... funding permitting. Loooong way to go though.

And look on the bright side - motivation to stay on target yes? :)

I deffo agree that I would rather have the skin than the flab. I`ll just have to fold it up and tuck it in ;) haha Xx

Thankyou x I still think I look huge :(

Hehe, What we put our bodies through for lil ones eh? Then they grow up to be gobby teenagers :p:rolleyes:

It`s great that you have an understanding GP. From what I`ve read on some of the threads, That is half the battle :sigh:

I`m gutted this evening as I went to my new class and they weighed me a whole FOUR lbs heavier than my scales  I`m sure it can`t be right  and they weighed me in trainers etc, So I`m using that as an excuse :p

Here is another photo to make u LOL - I look a total spanner haha Xxx

you look far from a spanner, but you certainly look happy :D

:D :D :D

;) Everyone else was on the sauce, But I was driving  x

I didn't realise it was so difficult to get a TT on the NHS!? I'm hoping I won't need one but already looking pretty bad and still have 3 stone to lose. Wait and see I guess :(
