hi I am a new member and need ideas for lunches. There are no facilities where i work for warming food so i need ideas for cold foods and want to keep bread to a minimum. any ideas?

Hi! there are tonnes of threads on this as the question is asked a lot - so try doing a search (blue button towards top right) on "packed lunch" and "lunch box"

Even if you can't warm food, do you have a kettle? There are quite a few instant snack foods which only need added water. Mugshots, for example. Which do warm you up more than just cold food would. And you can then bring your salad-type stuff to have with it, to increase the fruit/veg content of your lunch.

You could buy a thermos to take hot soups/beans etc with you? I think you can pretty much keep anything hot (stew!) in a thermos, and they're selling for about a fiver in some shops.

Cold lunches would be the usual salads, cold pasta salad, couscous etc. Boiled eggs are good for snacking on. As someone has said, what's your kettle situation like?

thanks everyone, i have a kettle but to be honest i hate processed instant foods and prefer fresh. i bought a flask but it did not keep the food hot enough, maybe i need a better quality one?

Try pre-heating the flask using boiling water before filling it

Also for a food flask I think you need to use foods that are more liquid for it to retain the heat - so things with a gravy or sauce rather than say pasta on its own
