fish skin

Can you eat the skin of fish or do you need to remove it. I just had salmon for tea and didnt eat it as it seems oily to me (but then so is salmon isnt it). i didnt think they say skin removed for fish as they do for chicken.

also if you need to remove it for say salmon (wouldnt be surprised if this was a yes) what about for non oily fish such as haddock or cod. reason i ask is because when hubby cooks tea he leaves the skin on (trying to cut it off before cooking needs to be an expert with a knife lol)

I don't eat the skin, but do cook it with it on. It's easier to flake the cooked fish off.

thanks for the reply. we do the same as well (cook with the skin off and then dont eat the skin). just wondered if you are eating something like cod can you eat it and it be still free.

i take the skin off all meat & fish, thinking iv got enough of my own than eating someone/thing elses lol! skin probably has syns? x

you've plenty of your own muscle and flesh too but you still eat that..
but I'm with you, I don't like skin on my fish..

Me too. The less something looks like the animal / fish it was the better. I am considering going veggie, but I can't afford to cook seperately (money or timewise) so I shall probably continue to dither about it for ages.

vegie is cheaper, meat is expensive and if you're cooking all the veg anyway then leaving out the meat is actually saving time..
that said I do like my meat

Not when you have 2 kids, one of whom refuses to eat ANY veg and the other who will but prefers meat. And a very carnivore husband. And a very growing teenage son who would eat your leg off soon as look at you.

Theoretically yes it would, but not in this case!

Mind you, eating your leg would be cheaper than shop-bought meat.

And good for the weight loss!

(And I wouldn't DARE to say anything about it leaving you somewhat unbalanced...)

It doesn't say in the book to remove fish skin (not that I've seen)
I love crispsy salmon skin and I do eat it. I also eat the skin off haddock.
I'd say the salmon skin appeared oily because salmon is a very oily fish. So good for you though :)
