Why oh why did I check the scales?

I'm back on plan after having my baby (7wks old) and really keen to get rid of the 3 extra stone I have gained in the last few months eeeeeek! I joined group on Thursday and have stuck to the plan 100% - I just weighed myself ( I know, never learn!) and haven't lost an ounce. I know I have a couple days before my official WI but was really hoping for something to show.

After the huge amounts I have been eating pre getting back on plan, I really thought there would be a difference. Anyhoo, onwards and (hopefully) downwards. Just had to share my sillyness

Different scales get different results, different clothes weigh different amounts and your weight fluctuates throughout the day anyway. All of these things could have meant you got a different result, and the only way you'll know for sure how much you've lost will be to go to class and get weighed on Thursday.

Personally for me, I ever only notice the change in the last few days of the week anyway.

Im sure you will loes and if you don't your have a big weighloss to look forward to the week after, main thing is is to keep feeling positive which you sound which is fab!

P.S ...congrats with the baby! I will still in my p'js 7 weeks after, not alone joining slimming world! Go you x

Thanks all :)

You are right, I need to hide those scales and just wait until Thursday! I'm feeling very impatient. The last few times I have joined SW I have had a small loss the first week, so need to be prepared for that and fingers crossed the second week will be better.

Fingers, eyes & legs crossed! ;)

Well done for going back to sw so fast! Congrats on your baby xxx

As others said, sneak peaks are a BAD idea lol, I bet you will do well and get a lovely surprise xxx

as a bloke I only have a vague idea about childbirth, but since it's only 7 weeks, aren't your hormones and metabolism working differently to be able to feed the baby ( even if you aren't breast feeding? )..
retaining fluids and fats etc to produce milk and so on?

You are so right, You have to wait 6 weeks minimum before you can try and lose weight, but def theres hormone-madness for long after lol.

I started ww when my baby was 6 weeks, and I was breastfeeding and therefore got loads of extra 'points' to eat :)

Plus the exhaustion messes up your body clock, and you are hungry at odd times, and fluid retention does last ages, it was months before I got my wedding ring back on!

coljack & Purple_star Thank you v v much for that, don't feel quite so baffled now :D I've been wondering if that could be the issue. I am still breastfeeding a little, she has mainly on formula due to her being really hungry and me not producing enough milk but I am still breastfeeding as much as I can. I'd started wondering if my body is holding onto the weight for that reason. I've not been having my syns as much as I should either, there just hasn't been time or I have been full at the end of the day. Oh well, we'll see what happens tonight! ;)

Thanks all - fabulous as ever! :D

Good luck tonight. Great to see you back and congratulations on the birth of your daughter.
Even if the weight doesn't fall off as quickly as you want it to, you know your doing the best you can and your body is getting back to normal too :) xx

Good luck from me too :)

are you having all the extra HeX's that you're supposed to when you're breast feeding?
you need loads of calcium..
me and my brother drained my mom of hers and all her teeth went bad and fell out.. so make sure..

Well, back from WI and lost .5 tonight. :( Glad of a loss, but rather disappointed. I'm sticking with it and will be having some of my remaining syns tonight as I worked out I'd only had 23 so far this week - I've not been trying to keep them low, just finding it hard to fit them in everyday. That wasn't an issue when I was using them on wine! ;)

ColJack - thanks again :) I've been having 1 extra HEXA for the calcium, not having the 4 as she is mainly on formula, I'm just a top up but will be making sure I try and get all the syns in and poss use some as extra dairy.

Hoping next week will be a better loss.

Thanks all for the good luck & support. x

what I meant was that you may not be producing as much milk ( as you said above ) because you're not having the extra Hex's..
