Was it HONESTLY normal eating? or were you perhaps being a bit cautious as you knew you were pointing?!!! Plus, there's a difference between 'normal day' and the type of 'days that made us fat!!'. For example, on a day to day basis even when not dieting, I eat relatively well (fresh food, no alcohol etc), however I've got to the weight I am now through takeaways, beer, chocolate etc, none of which I have on a 'normal day'.
Who worked out your 59 points for you? Is it possible this is wrong, may be worth double checking - there is a sticky for this, perhaps post your request there?
If all of the above aren't the case, then I say try a week on the 59 points, even if it seems you are eating more in quantity. Often the choices we make when dieting are healthier (i.e brown bread instead of white, lower fat milk etc), meaning the quality of our diet is better, hence weight loss when eating more actual food? If it seems your points are still too high after this first week, or you aren't losing, speak to your leader who may know what to do!!
Also remember, as you lose weight, your points will go down,so you shouldn't be on 59 for very long!
