Suggestions for a "Things to do before 30 list"?

gemmm

I turn 26 next week and I'd like to make up a things to do before 30 list. All I've come up with is to lose weight and finally get a C in GCSE maths (hopefully I'll have achieved these by the summer). Anyone got any suggestions of life experiences I could add?

I'd like to:
Create my own perfume
Have professional photos taken
Go up in a hot air balloon (although I may rethink that one after the incident on NYD!)
Learn to speak Spanish fluently
Learn to Belly Dance
Actually enjoy exercise!!

it might give you a few ideas! :D

Only you can decide what you want to achieve. We could all make suggestions, but they'd all be things individual to us!

Something i've learnt in my years is that the saying 'life is what happens when you're busy making plans' really is true.

Think about things you've always dreamed of doing or seeing and work from there.

I turned 30 just over a year ago. My things were more practical like starting to drive (past my test with a two wks to go!), also did the 'go ape' experience which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Everyone is different. To be honest it is not a big deal turning 30 ;). I still feel the same as when I was 29 lol :). Certainly don't feel like I have missed out on anything. In the future would love to take my two children to disneyworld though! :king:

Mine's the 11th. It does seem abit scary, doesn't seem that long ago I had my 16th! I'd like to go traveling, however I don't think I'll be able to get the money together to do that before I'm 30, maybe before I'm 40 though. I'd like to learn to drive though, I have had lessions in the past but had to give them up as I lost my job and never got around to doing them again.

I agree that it is a personal thing but I guess we can give you ideas.

What about visiting certain places in this country & abroad, learning new things - different hobbie, language or a degree or something similar. Getting in touch with people you've lost touch with.

Sorry not very good ideas but looking forward to seeing your list x

Well, I am the old fart of the site but still going to give you my twopen'orth.

30 opens so many doors.......more confidence, a special maturity. I was at my most sexy at 30 and most courted lol. I loved it even though I was a respectable married wife and mum lol !!!!

Right here goes......

by 30 I had....... not created a perfume but had a promotional account with Carven.......promoted there products in the U.K.
Flown as crew in a hot air balloon lots of times. Our Balloon was shaped like a smoking pipe. Great fun and an enormous adrenalin rush.
Speak Spanish as have lived here for more years than you have lived.
Do not Belly Dance...just got rid of the belly lol !!!
Now love walking.

I really like your ideas !!!

Oh so true Jennyonaplate.

By 30, which was 37 years ago I had done unheard of things...........travelled to Venezuela and most of the Caribbean.............been to the Pyramids, sailed the Corinthian Canal, been a flight attendant, started a promotions company, rode a motor bike, racy for a woman then, had my horse, and worked for all of it myself, and best of all had my son. And oh so much more.

You can achieve what you want to achieve if you have the tenacity to stick with it.

30 is a minor land mark in your life, very minor. Enjoy yourself your life will follow the pattern it is intended to follow. With a little help from you of course.........

I'd agree with the above posts, only you can decide what you really want to achieve.

Ok so you want to travel, so why not. Decide where you want to go & do it, check out how much its going to cost and then put a little aside each month from your wages. That is how I save for my lovely holidays.

Start driving lessons again, what is stopping you, money? so save where you can, look at what you really spend money on & see where cut backs can be made.

There are so many things in life make your decisions & go for it. One thing for sure is all too soon we'll be dead, too ill or just to old to do what we really want to.

Following on from another thread, giving blood is such a wonderful feeling & I'd recommend doing that.

Let us know your list when you've made it;)

I'd like to go traveling, however I don't think I'll be able to get the money together to do that before I'm 30, maybe before I'm 40 though.

It doesn't have to cost much to travel. I spent six months in SE asia and the whole trip probably cost me less than £3000 including flights. Had I wanted to do it cheaper, I could've easily stayed in cheaper places. Organised tours are always very expensive, and unnessecary, as it's not hard to book trips when you're there for a fraction of the cost. You could also work your way around the world to make it easier money wise. Working holiday visas for Australia and I think New Zealand, are easy to get before you turn 30, but not so easy after that!

My advice would be not to put off the things you actually want to do. If you want to go, then cut back and save, or get a second job for a few months. You won't regret it afterwards!

if you haven't already, move out and get a place of your own..
rent first, possibly somewhere part furnished so you don't have to buy it all at once.

Money is very tight at the moment so can't start saving towards traveling or start my driving lessions again just yet, hopefully my situation will change in a few months so I could start saving then. I like the idea of making my own perfume. I'd also like to vist Edinburgh and London again (I've been to both as a kid so don't remember much).

Edit: I do have some christmas money left over and I will probably get more for my birthday. I'm trying not to buy clothes until I lost more weight and theres nothing particularly I want/need to buy atm so I could put that in the bank.
