CD Sole Source and BMI

I was just curious to why you have to have a BMI of above 25 to do CD SS??

After seeing my great weightloss :D , some of my friends and my sister want to try the diet (SS) but i dont think they have a BMI of over 25. I know my sis is looking to lose maybe a stone but she is a low weight, i think weight just collects easily on certain areas.

I was trying to come up with a hypothesis about the BMI. Is it beacuse when you have a BMI of below 25, if you were to do SS, the low cals would start to burn off muscle because you have not got much fat. I am on 790 now and i have noticed there are alot of protein rich foods we have to eat, is this so that we make sure that we are not losing any mucsle and maybe actually building it up.

I'm sorry about the questions, i just like to know how things works. I have one of them sciencey minds, lol. I was a science geek at one point, lol and i loved it, hehe :D.

I was also curious about why i had to stop SS when i reached a BMI of 25. I asked my CDC and she said it was just company policy. I was hoping to get to know the science behind it, lol.

Anyway, i just thought i would ask. Its amazing how when you start CD everyone is really critical of it and say you wont succed. But when they see the weight fall off you they all want to try it, lol. It great :D, lol.

xx :)

The reason is simply with a BMI of 25 or under you clinical not overweight and therefore don't "need" to lose weight. If you were to visit your GP and ask if you needed to lose weight they would say no.

So for that reason Cambridge recommend that you aren't allowed to do SS.

Also I would say the losses of SS are too high for someone with a BMI that low as you would struggle to do SS and then stabilise through the plans and not end up with a BMI too low.

Thanks Mike. I thought you might be able to help me out, lol. I thought it was to do with the fat and the muscle etc. Shows what i know. Guess it was a good idea that i didnt train to be a dietician, lol.

I was thinking maybe i could suggest one of the other steps on CD for my friend and sis. Maybe the 1200 or the 1500. But i cant remember if you have to have a certain BMI for these stages.

Thanks again :) xx

They can certainly do 1200 or 1500 to trim down under a BMI of 25 no problems.
