Brussel Sprouts or No Sprouts poll lol

big bear

A bear on a mission!
I absolutely love sprouts but my H doesn't like them although he'll eat a few. I've always just steamed/boiled them before & that's it. This year I'm going to do with bacon bits for more flavour & maybe H will like them.

Are you having sprouts? What way do you cook them?

I love sprouts although no-one around me loves me eating them

I hate them but always have one with Christmas lunch, it is almost obligatory. DH loves them.

This year I am doing them with chestnuts.

My sprouts are sat very happy in my firdge, all 0.5kg of them haha!

I saw the bacon and buttery sprouts advert and they looked lush! May have to get some lardons if I can and do mine that way also.

My OH isn't a big veg fan but will eat it covered in gravy so that's the plan!

I'll eat any veg apart from celery and not a big fan of cauli unless it's in a curry!

xxx

I don't like celery either & only like cauli in a cheese sauce...

we are having ours with bacon lardons and chestnuts this year.........although i wont be eating the chestnuts cos i dont like them!!!

oooooooooooh we are having ours just steamed -nobbies (brussels) are my fave veg so I have them every week as long as they are in season and have had frost on them...... and I will be doing loads so that I can eat the leftovers cold :p

I love sprouts! they are the highlight of the xmas dinner for me. I do mine with white wine, garlic and bacon

Who would have thought that the humble sprout could evoke such passion lol !!!!

Don't like them, so I don't eat them. It doesn't matter whether you stick bacon bits or chestnuts or whatever in with them, I still won't eat them! My ex-mother-in-law used to try to make me eat them and used to tell me off if I left them, saying it wasn't polite to refuse. Did that make a difference? No, it did not! Life is too short to eat things you don't like just to make someone else happy!

I used to hate sprouts but now I love them. No one else likes them but I just steam a few on Christmas Day to put on everyones plate. Then I'll boil some until squiddgy to put in bubble and squeak for Boxing Day to go with cold meats & pickles.
I love them baked in the oven with onions too....

I think I'm getting carried away over the simple sprout LOL

Hi Soccermom, I think bubble & squeak is only supposed to be cabbage and potatoes if you Google it. However 'my' bubble & squeak contains boiled potatoes and any leftover boiled veg all mashed together with salt and pepper, then fried. I sometimes put fried onions in with it too. I use frylight and it's really nice if you let it go brown and crispy one one side then turn it over a few times for the other side to go brown too.

So, it's not really a recipe more of a bung it in sort of job - which makes it super easy and it's always a little different every time but always yummy. We always had this for Monday tea when I was small with leftover meat from Sunday roast or bacon and egg if there wasn't enough cold meat.

I love brussel sprouts, usually I roast them with chestnuts & shallotts, but this year DD has seen the ad where they cook them with bacon, so that is what we are having.

Tonight my mum & sister are coming for tea & I'm cooking the sprouts with pine nuts, I've never tried them like that before so looking forward to it. There not entirely SW friendly as you fry the sprouts & then add the pine nuts:)

I would like to disagree somewhat, sometimes you haven't got a choice, you either eat what you are given or go to bed hungry. I know as a child this was the case. Not saying it did me any harm though as I'd **** on a stick covered with sugar now, you catch my drift.

xxx

That didn't work with me when I was a child. I would NOT eat something I didn't like, no matter what.
