Wow - had my WI today and I've lost a total of 6st 2lb!! I can't believe it. I've less than 2 stone to go for my management goal.

My LLC thinks wanting to lose a stone in management may be a bit ambitious. Anyone agree? I'm now having 2 sessions a week with my trainer and at this stage feel that the extra management food fuel will increase my gym activity, aside from the personal training and that it will be pretty straightforward to shift the last stone doing so much exercise.

Maybe I'm just being slightly naive/optimistic??

And bearing in mind my targets are really just gauges at the minute anyway so I might not even need to lose the extra stone when it comes to that time. Who knows?

I've lost 6st 2lb in 18 weeks!!!!!! Can't get over it :D :D :D :D :D :D

:D Well done for your weight loss so far, as long as you set realistic goals you should be able to achieve them, just think of all the shopping trips you can start planning :D

Blimey, Tiger Girl. That is a PHENOMENAL weight loss!

Do you mind me asking what your height and weight are?

I am going to ask a fitness/food expert friend of mine about the gym activity/management/development dilemma and I will see what they say (and will let you know).

I hope you can find some nice non-food ways to reward your amazing results!

Big kiss.

No probs Mrs L
I'm just over 5ft 7 and currently weigh 13.5
My management goal is 11.7 and end goal 10.7, but as I said that's in my head just now and I'll see how I get on. But 10.7 is not too low according to all of the charts so I guess we'll have to wait and see.
:D

WOW, 6 stone 2lb in 18 weeks. That is truly awesome.

Do you have any tips for anyone following in your footsteps?

When did you introduce exercise and what do you do? Has it affected your weightloss?

Sorry for all the questions but your weight loss is really inspiring and I hope to be as successful as you.

Sam

Feel free to ask away! The exercise thing is an interesting one and there are quite a few Mini's who do lots!

I started around week 4 - I was doing my step at home as I found it easier to work out at home based on all round general energy levels, ie. instead of planning when to go to the gym but then not really knowing whether I was going to have the energy to even get there, let alone sweat for an hour! i found it much easier to capitalise on the energy bursts at home as and when they happened.

Once I started I couldn't stop - so at the gym (think it was around week 9 when I started there) I've been doing 2-3 times per week sessions, an hours worth of strength training and toning. My gym is brilliant in that I got a PT for free for a month. I've now hired him full time and the difference is just staggering. Having said that, after this morning's session I did ask him if he's actually ever killed anyone. Oooh, hurting already!
It's expensive, but there really is nothing quite like it, for me anyway.

As the fat burning is happening elsewhere (500 cals of foodpacks!) I don't do any gym cardio but do swim at least once a week.
I also do pilates and yogalates which is absolutely wonderful and fabulous for the mind body and soul!

The inch loss is unreal. I had a 4 week period at the start of development where my weight losses were really small, but the inch loss was fabulous. Now both things seem to have caught up with one another and are balancing out.

My history at the gym is a loooooong one, and not great. I've always been a member of a gym but have always associated it with pain, hell, failure, torture etc. I do know my own body very well though and for me, the gym/regular enjoyable exercise will be the absolute key to maintaining my weight loss. I just need to work so hard to burn off the calories so there's no other option really.

Also, I really believe my flabby bits are nowhere near as bad as they would've been had I not started serious exercise whilst doing LL.

Finally, on the days that I don't get to the gym I won't go to bed until I've done at least 100 crunches and a solid set of leg exercises on my floor! There really is very little effort involved but the results are great. I would recommend this to anyone who just doesn't feel ready for the gym yet, but wants to do something. Just get on the floor and crunch!! Even last week when I was at Glastonbury I found myself crawling into my tent in the wee hours of the morning and thinking 'I'll just do a few crunches!'
One of my goals is to have 19" thighs (the so called perfect thigh size) I've lost 5.5" per thigh so far and at 21" they're almost there!! That definitely didn't happen by accident!

Sorry for long post! You may be thinking you wished you'd never asked! I can get on my soapbox a bit on the exercise issue as LL are ***rubbish*** on this whole area and I've had little or no support from them. Just listen to your bod and push yourself as slowly or as quickly as you need to in the early days. But for me, losing 6st with another 2 or 3 to go, what happens at the end? What about all of the skin issues? How do you even start to build up stamina and strength? How can you maintain such a huge weight loss without exercise? So many questions :D

Do let me know how you get on. If you've not started doing anything yet, and are a bit worried about it, the best advice I can give is increase your walking quota massively. Use the stairs whenever you can and get the power walking miles under your belt! :D

Just wanted to add a very well done, and like you say with your exercise regime, LL and mindset it will not only fly by but you may be happy at another healthy goal.

Keep up the excellent work and finally agree about the buzz of exercise, I actually love it and wonder when else I can get to the gym!

Take Care

Sam xx

Tiger Girl,

Well done. That is an amazing weight loss and your attitude is inspiring. I am so pleased that you also get a buzz from the gym and that it works well for you.

Keep up the hard work and you will soon be at your goal weight.

There are mixed views on starting management wanting to lose weight. I had reached my first goal of 9st7 when I started management 5 weeks ago. But my ultimate goal in my head only was 9st. I now weigh 9st (or just under, wish my scales showed oz too).

A lot of people advised me not to start management unless I was at goal as you have enough to take on board anyway - this is true. Luckily most people tend to lose a few extra pounds but really management is not about losing weight but maintaining. I am finding it hard now to increase calorie/fat intake as I don't want to put on weight and therefore have not and am not really enjoying the journey that much and this is due to the pressure I think of having gone into management wanting to lose 1/2 stone.

Management should be fun, enjoyable and enlightening and not a battle of trying to lose weight whilst trying out all the food you have missed/not had before. This is something you have looked forward to for so long, you don't want anything to get in your way.

Ultimately, only you will know when you are ready to move into management and you should only do this when you want to. Listen to what your heart is telling you and you will be fine.

Good luck and well done xx

Betty
Thanks so much for your advice - I really appreciate it :D
I am worried about all things goal related and am playing it by ear for now. I really take on board the management is for maintenance not weight loss comment though.
Lots to think about
Thanks again :D

Tiger girl,

Just do what is right for you, you will know when it is the right time I promise you.

Good luck honey xx :)

What a fantsatic weight loss! Well done you! I wish I could get enthusiastic about excercise! I have been a bit pathetic on that front as havent had much spare energy but am thinking of doing a lifesaving course in an attempt to not realise I'm excercising IYKWIM!! Mine at the moment is allotment & digging & thats about it!! What a fantastic weiht loss though!

Tiger Girl - you are totally my inspiration. You have done phenomenally well and you've inspired me to up my exercise.

I've just started week 3 and currently I go to the gym 3 times a week (personal training once a week, spinning class once a week and 1 other gym session I make up on my own!). But now I think I should try and fit in some yoga/pilates sessions to boost the toning. You said you do leg exercises before bed - what kind of leg exercises do you do? This is where I carry almost all my weight (think pear shaped and then put in front of a fun house mirror). My thighs are currently 27" which is a bit bigger than yours when you first started. How did you reduce them by 5.5"? Please tell me your secret :jelous::sign0009:

Aw shucks, thanks for your lovely comments everyone!
:grouphugg:

wannalose8st - you are very brave for asking me again about exercise related stuff!!! :D So, for you and pussycat, I shall be as concise as possible!

I've just looked at my measurement chart and it looks like it initially took 3wks to drop and inch and then an inch every other week up to week 13 and since then it's slowed down a bit but the thighs are still shrinking! 19" is definitely on the cards!

Re the leg exercises I do at home;
- lying on your side, one leg tucked under, extend the other - lift and squeeze. At least 3 sets of 15 per leg.

- standing leaning against a chair or a wall. Extend one leg straight back out, squeeze, bring leg back and then raise towards your butt, squeeze - repeat. 25 each leg. 3 sets.

- squats, standing feet apart, arms out in front, 2 part move leaning to a sitting position, squeeze as you pull back up to standing. 3 sets of 10.

- on all 4's, extend one leg back, full range of motion, bring back in (like a swinging motion) and kick back out again. 10 of these and then keep the leg extended, lift it higher so sole of foot is facing the ceiling and then pulse. Fantastic for butt and thighs.

All of these seem to have been really effective and the results are now paying off big time.
I'm sure there are many many more that some of the Mini's can recommend.

It's all very timely as today I can barely move my thighs due to the fact that my trainer appears to be as desperate as I am to get me to the magic 19" number. Ooh he really put me through it at the weekend. Ouch, ouch, ouch! Think we may be slightly overdoing it just now. But I've also started going for a swim before work every day (slightly obsessive maybe?!) and that can only be helping too.

Good luck on the perfect thigh quest!
I do feel the need to add a disclaimer of sorts to this post bearing in mind I am in no way qualified to give anyone any advice on exercise!!! :D

Hello TG (and Betty!)

TG - I have to say I think that gym post was fantastic! And inspirational - totally inspirational. It has given me even MORE to think about!! In a good way.

Hi Betty

Long time, no "speak"! Can't believe you've been in management for so long but if I think about it properly, I was living in my own home then, not the B&B! I thought your post was really interesting - lots to think about there too.

Just when I thought I had made up my mind about the Development/Management threshold, I've changed it again after reading both your responses!

I just want to say THANK YOU for sharing. V.v.v.v.helpful!

Big kiss.
