A break before hardcore dieting

Is it good to give your body a break, or detox, before you start a healthy diet?

I plan on starting to eat healthy in the new year, combined with lots of walking and hopefully some gym sessions. Would it be a good idea to stop eating for a couple of days prior to this, or just start hardcore in the January?

If you really mean a healthy diet, then the sooner you start the better, your body will be far happier on healthy food than junk and won't ever need a break from that. However it worries me that you say 'hard core'. Your goal weight is extremely low, well underweight for your height (I saw on another post you are about 5'5?) and if you are planning on severly reducing your calorie intake then yes, eat properly for a bit first and be VERY careful,

mrs Popi - reading your others posts on here I think you need to speak to someone about your issues with food.

Would it be a good idea to stop eating for a couple of days prior to this

do you mean stop eating all together? Please speak to your dr again you need to see someone who you can talk to about your issues.

I wish to loose 10lbs. This is going to be done the sensible way. I am going to focus, between now and new year, on reducing the binges and getting them from my diet completely.

In January I am going to start following pure and simple healthy eating rules. I'm not going to forbid anything from my diet, but have it in moderation.

I am going to participate in some exercise too. Probably three wii fit sessions a week (30 mins) or a Fitness DVD (50mins) 3 or 4 times a week.

This is the way forward, the way I am going to loose my binge weight that I have gained and the way I am going to maintain in the future. My head is at the right place. New Year, New Diet, New Start.

=)

10lbs?!
people on here would be overjoyed to be what weight you are mspoppi, im only an inch taller than you and weigh 8st 12, if i lost any more id be all bone and scrawny...

you dont need to lose anything really, if i were you id take peoples advise here and go speak to a doctor about your weight issues, you would be dangerously underweight if you were to drop 10lbs or even half a stone! 8stone is thin yes, but not too thin, please be safe, we only say this as were concerned

maybe just try and maintain it? i exercise 6 days a week and eat healthy, but i dont lose any weight i just maintain it
