Operation Fight the Fat!
Hi :wave_cry:
I started Slimming World this week for the
first time. Wondering if it was a good time to start, just before Christmas, but when the motivation/urge takes you you have to go for it... so I did :)
I did Weight Watchers starting July last year and lost 2.5stone over my summer holiday from uni. Then I struggled to lose the other half stone to make it 3 in the last year (far too long and I have loads of excuses but anyway...!) So now I'm trying Slimming World as a new challenge to (hopefully) lose 2 more stone.
Wish me luck!!

Good luck dancing queen. Well done for making the commitment.

Your losses so far are fantastic. I'm sure you will enjoy SW - I really do and as a '1st timer' I am a complete convert.

Keep us posted.

Thank you :)

Had my first weigh in this morning and I lost 4lbs. I have no idea how becuase I really wasn't that strict, so hard at this time of the year with everything going on. It was a lovely surprise and given me a real boost.

Well I did celebrate with a chocolate biscuit and Ferrero Rocher but thats what syns are for huh?

I've been thinking... How much difference would it make that my first weigh in was in the morning and my group was in the afternoon? Maybe I've not dove as well ad I thought. I'd not gad breakfast before my weigh in but at group the week before it was about half 5 and I'd only had a bowl of soup at lunch and I was wearing exactly the same clothes... I definitely prefer weighing in the morning weighing, not just because it might give me a lower reading!! I did weight watchers at home and always weighed first thing on a Monday morning.

I'm going to have a super good day today because I've got a meal out tomorrow night. First meal out on SW. Indian ... I'm guessing the grilled tandoori stuff will be better than my usual tikka masalla?

Just a few thoughts/worries going through my head this morning!!

Hi Dancing Queen,

I'd agree with your thoughts on weighing in the morning. I am definitely more consistent with my morning weigh in's although I think as long as you weigh in at the same time every week (and wear the same clothes) it should be ok. In any case, as you get further into your journey it's easier to see the bigger picture so if there is a variation for any reason if you have been sticking to the plan you know that it will come right with the next weigh in.

Have a look at the book for choices on Indian. Dhansak is quite good (although I went to one place where it was more like a korma so I'm sure that the book would have underestimated the count), Dhal is ok, rogan josh also. Try to avoid naan breads - they are pretty high. Tandoori chicken comes up fairly similar (a little higher than some of the ones I've just mentioned) but that maybe including a sauce. If you need syn counts either try the website or let me know and I'll try and help out if I'm around. Boiled rice is great. Remember that the portion sizes can be a bit bigger than the average in the SW book so be aware. I'm sure you'll have a great time though.

Have fun.

Thanks Gail.
Tomorrow is the only night out I'm having over christmas so I think I'm going to have what I want and enjoy it, I was going to have christmas eve off and have take away but decided not to and relax tomorrow night, especially as I'm sure we'll have a couple of glasses of wine or a bottle!!

As for my weigh-ins I'll have to see how they go, I'll be at the morning one for the next 2 weeks, possibly 3.

Well the last few days have been a disaster. Dreading my weigh in tomorrow morning. My Indian meal was delicious, did ok with food but 2 bottles of wine and loads of port not good. Christmas Day and today I couldn't resist anything so dreading dreading dreading tomorrow morning :( On the plus side had a lovely couple of days and can start being good again tomorrow....

Ugh not feeling that good. I had my weigh in on Monday and had gained 1.5lbs which isn't too bad but haven't been able to get back on to plan fully. Visited a friend the last couple of days so it's been a bit tricky. Got a meal out planned tomorrow night which I'm considering cancelling. I really don't want to gain again next week but seems inevitable with new years eve and new years day also. I'm starving at the moment & craving chocolate... Not a good sign for the next few days!! My willpower just seems rubbish too. :(

So sorry to hear that you're feeling miserable. Try taking one day at a time. When you wake up tomorrow, just concentrate on staying on plan for that day only. Use all your syns if you need to but be focused on that day.

Hope you can get back your 'mojo'.

Thanks Gail.
Just had a "buffet supper" for new years day. Stuffed my face on all the wrong things and actually feel like I want to make myself sick from it :(
I really suck at this. Monday is going to be a disaster.

No, it isn't going to be a disaster. It's going to be a disappointment. But you have to know what that is in order to know that you've tackled it. Otherwise you could try really hard and still gain for example 2 lbs. That could be a brilliant result because you might have gained 6lbs and then lost 4 of them but unless you go/weigh in, you won't know.

However, when you weigh in, whatever you have gained (and I have seen here anything up to 13.5lbs here over christmas) it is what it is. It happens to everyone here at some time. The point of weighing in is NOT to say 'blow it' and keep eating, it's to restart and give it your best. Everyone here understands that in their different ways. The important thing is not what you've gained, but how you respond to it.

So, chin up. Write down how you feel about what you've achieved so far (in this journey and your previous journey), what you want to achieve and focus on one day only. That's all you need to start with.

Good luck. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks Gail.

I know I can do it, there will be a gain tomorrow but will just have to accpet that and move on.

I'm back on plan today, despite a family dinner.
We had a starter of smoked salmon and prawns - that was syn free apart from the seafood sauce. Then we had steak, jacket potato and peas and onions and mushrooms (done in frylight). It was all very good. For pudding I had a mullerlight yogurt. So I'm back on plan!!! :D

YAAAAY. Well done. Just keep it up for the rest of the day and you'll feel SOOOOOOOOOO good.

I have no idea how but I lost 1.5lbs so in back to what I was before Christmas! Really can't believe it! I was expecting about a 3lb gain!!

Well done Sarah !!!! That's fantastic. Take that as a 'sign' ! that you need to continue this. I'm really pleased for you.
