Brought a bag of fat free ones thinking ooooh that will be better than the normal ones but nope for the fat free ones they are 1.5 syns each and normal ones 1 syn each.... how bizarre!!!!!!:D

Weiiiiird! I buy the bassett's fat free flumps and they're 1/2 a syn! Maybe those ones have EXTRA sugar? :)

Marshmallows are pretty much fat free anyway! No idea why they bothered even producing a 'fat free' version! They are mostly sugar though (see below) - so reduced calorie ones I could understand!

Marshmallow recipe...

  • 1/3 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Maybe they think that with fat free things they have to add even more sugar to keep the nom factor...

Is this just another instance of marketing something which already has little or no fat as "fat free" just to make people believe they are making a healthy choice?

Like the "fat-free" jelly which was mentioned here some time ago, when there is no fat in jelly in the first place.
