Question...

I'm obsessing about the whole refeed thing and eating again and I kind of don't understand...I'm probably being really thick..

When we refeed and start to eat again how will we not put back on weight if we up the calories we eat in a day from 400 or whatever it is on this to a normal amount or how many calories can we eat in a day to maintain weight? That probably doesn't even make sense. It's just confusing me. This is such a low calorie diet, we will have to be increasing the amount of calories when we eat but how will this not make us put weight on?

I feel a bit hazy today, have a headache and am in a dreadful mood, all of which I'm attributing to this diet so maybe it's making me a bit confused also today but this whole maintaining weight thing is really confusing me..I just can't see how it will work for me :(

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, xxx

If you read the link below it will explain refeeding and how to avoid weight gain after TFR.

It is important to refeed as directed by Lipotrim as you do not want to overload the glycogen stores and you do this by reintroducing carbs gradually and in sequence like it says on their leaflet which is available at the Pharmacy.

For Maintaining your weight you need to know your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). TDEE is the total number of calories that your body expends in 24 hours, including all activities. TDEE is also known as your "maintenance level".

You will find a Basal Metabolic Rate & Daily Calorie Calculator below...

BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) Calculator | Muscle & Strength

This is just one of many if you do a Google search you will find some more.

I hope that helps:)

hi there
this is how it works;
we need approx 2000 calories per day to live. depending on our sex - male or female, and activity levels this wil vary a bit. when you go on a VLCD your body goes into starvation mode. But when you also reduce carbohydrates the body just uses another source of energy to make up the balance of the 2000 - (440 calories you consume with LT.) When sugar or quick energy isn't available to the body, your system automatically burns the stored fat and that's where you get your needed calories from. The body just changes the source of the energy from carbs / sugar / food to the fat under your skin. when you refeed you still need the 2000 calories but now you will get more from your food then your body stores. So that's why you need to keep your carbs low and reintroduce slowly. Along with filling up the glycogen stores again, if you eat too much you will store the excess as fat.
You will not put on weight just by swictching to food. It's the type of foood you eat. I hope this makes sense. ..... xxx

Thanks so much girls, I'm going to have a look at the TDEE thing and read a bit more about that, thanks Mini. I think I'll have to spend a lot of time researching eating again and how our bodies use the food we eat so that I know I'm making the most sensible choices, it's a lot to get my head around!! But hey, at least I'm concerned about it this time...hopefully this means I won't pile the pounds back on again!!! x

I hope so Su. I am definitely getting near refeed time, not sure if I'll last the next week and a half. I can feel the need building inside me..it's so strange. It didn't bother me at all until now. It's not that I'm even craving anything, I just feel the need to eat or something....I'll be here soon..xxx
