Help. A little lost. Where to (re)start?

Slinky_Malinky

That pesky stone crept back.
I should have put this post in here rather than in introductions really. Here it goes:

Hello again. I lost 3 stone a couple of years ago on Lighter Life. I was delighted, but since then I went through a difficult patch and have basically piled it all back on. I realise that a very low calorie diet is the only way to go for me, as it was the only thing that has ever worked, but I don't know what to go back to. I can't afford Lighter Life this time, and besides, i only liked the other people in my group and not the counsellor. And, frankly, the CBT such as it was, did not do anything for me. I don't know how to go about getting onto Lipotrim or the Cambridge diet (presuming they are the only VLCD alternatives?) the CD website gives a rather esoteric list of first-names and phone numbers, and no information about them or anything. The lipotrim website looks like something from 1980s USSR, and it seems that no chemist nearby does it anyway. I'm a bit lost to be honest, but I think I'm ready to go back on the shakes. Any advice?

There are other diets out there now and if financial issues are stopping you from doing LL then I would reccomend exante as they can cost as little as £25 a week if you buy a bumper pack for a month.I am doing exante at the moment and am finding the losses every bit as good as on LL or CD.

Hi Slinky Malinky. I'd second what Polishrose says about Exante. I'm changing to them soon myself as they work out much cheaper than the rest.

At the moment I'm doing one called Target Slim which is cheap enough but I think only available in Ireland.

Whatever you decided, best of luck and I look forward to chatting to you on here.

P.S. I was ROFL at your USSR comment Re Lipotrim!! :8855:

Thanks peeps. I think I might give Exante a go actually, they seem very reasonable. And I won't have to get all touchy feely with my old Lighter Life counsellor! What they say is true though. It is MUCH harder to do it a second/third/fourth/nth time. Just even to get started, to get the head in the zone. Keep wondering if I should wait until after Christmas, but let's face it, that's just procrastination, innit.

Slinky I remember you from back then.I am finding this restart surprisingly easy this time round.(Hope it continues)

you can go on any brand of shakes you can afford, some folk even mix and match, sounds like it might be the group support you need..so joining a team or a group under any of the products or just join a group you like anyway.

Another thing you could do when you have enough posts is write someone privately to be a diet/program buddy, or just put it out on a thread Basically there are lots of options. And there will be a flood of folk starting in january.

When I was looking for a Uk based CDC, I rang around , some were warm, some where very business-like and just wanted me to come round as soon as possible, some would answer questions , some sounded so so, even bored with the product..so it's question of ringing around and sensing who might work best for you.

The good thing is that at least with CD there are more options with counsellors. Best wishes and stick around

I have to say I'm mixing and matching at the moment and feeling fine on it. I'm doing ok without the support though. I decided that this time I'm just going to get on with it without any help. It's been relatively easy so far.

Hi :) I have tried Celebrity Slim which you buy from the chemists and Tony Ferguson which is the one you can get from Boots. I didn't stick to either of them!! I am now on Cambridge Diet and I love it! Having the councillor come round and weigh me every week spurs me on to stick with it, unlike CS & TF where I didn't get officially weighed so I didn't stick to it. I know what you mean about the CD website though. I just picked the first name on the list and luckily she is lovely!!

Just think about what you want. Do you want someone to weigh you? Or a councillor to help you out? Or do you just want to get on with it? Hope this helps!!

Hi , try advidlite meal replacements worked out for me £26 which includes postage . They are low carb . Im starting this week let you know how im getting on . Goodluck with whatever you decide x

Thanks everyone. I'm now on day 4 of Exante, and finding it tough, but I know once I'm in ketosis I'll find it a lot easier. :) You'll find me in the Exante forum!

Hi:)

My story is similar to yours, starting to pile it back on cos i had a very stressful end to 2010 so I'm back on it and hope to get to goal asap! I have some left over from last year, a mix of LT, exante and new you so going to use that up then probably do new you or exante. Good luck with it xx

I did Lipotrim a long time ago and lost 14lb in my first week. I then decided to 'treat' myself and never re-started... It's taken me forever to get back onboard with another VLCD but I'm more headstrong this time round. Decided enough is enough, plus I want to wear a bikini!

Best of luck with the re-start :)

Cherry.
