So sad

fed-up-and-fat

hoping for a good loss
Not CD related at all.

My uncle was diagnosed with alcohol induced hepititis about 6 weeks ago and told he had 6 months. He has gone down so rapidly and is now entering the terminal phase.

Trouble is he lives in South Africa and their palliative care is dreadful. My parents are getting flights out asap (is my dads BIL) I wish I could go with them. Am sat here crying as I type. Both mum and I work in a hospice and know how end of life care should be. We know he isn't going to get the same care over there, but at least if mum is there she can encourage the specialist to give my uncle the right drugs whilst he is dying.

He is in so much pain and is confused and had a fall today. My poor aunt is really struggling to cope. Wish they had a decent health care system - there is no need for him to suffer like he is.

I just pray that mum and dad will get out there in time. Hope they can get flights for tomorrow.

Sorry to ramble, need to let it out

Hello my love

I was very sad to read about your uncle and what you and your family are going through.

Please do know that you can always write on here and I will be here attempting to offer some words of comfort.

I understand that financially it may not be possible but is there any way that you and your mother could go over there to support your aunt and be with your uncle during the time he has left?

Either way it seems as though yourself and your mother are very good people and I am sure having you at the end of the phone is at least a small comfort to your aunt, that she knows she has a wonderful foundation of support in you both, due to the work that you do and that you are compassionate ladies and more importantly, you're her family.

Thinking of you and your family at this sad and difficult time.

Can always find money if needed, but with 2 kids at home and a husband who is going in for an op next week it is impossible for me to go :-(.

Thanks for replying xx

Oh no poor you, youre having a terrible time of it aren't you.

Concentrate on your hubby and kids to help u take your mind off things slightly, and stay in touch with your parents for updates.

You'll all get through this.

Guys, you are all so wonderful - thanks.

Funeral is tomorrow at 10am (8am our time) Mum and dad got there safely and are keeping in touch with me.

just found this post and i'm so sorry for you. it must be hard hearing of the poor care and not being able to do anything and then for him to pass before your parents managed to get out there to aid his passing. just remember that everyone on this thread will be thinking of you.

Hey Charlie

I hope the funeral went as well as to be expected and that your parents and aunt are coping ok.

Much hugs

Rx
