zero pp

Hi all
So if something is zero pp. Such as fruit and veg, does that mean I can eat/ snack on it as much and often as I like?

My leader says it's free "in moderation". Not knowing what moderation is is the reason I am at WW in the first place! I think the idea is you don't eat bananas until you are sick, but don't have to count it if you pluck for a free food instead of a Galaxy Caramel. I have a sneaking suspicion that veg is more free than fruit, ie the consequences of bingeing on veg probably aren't as severe. You have to eat a lot of carrots before you reach saturation point.

Thanks, I was thinking the same about fruit and was suprised bananas were a free food. I shall have to be careful!!!

with bananas specifically it's not just the calories but also other minerals you have to watch out, like potassium. You don't want to have too many of them because you could potentially feel sick with them in a very, very large amount. Now I'm not saying you would be taken to hospital, but it could affect your health. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing for everything including fruit and veg. I have discovered that you can have too much fibre and that can harm your health, and you can have too little salt, and that can harm your health as well! I think that what your leader means is to try and focus on having 5 portions max of fruit in a day, 8 in total between fruit and veg :)

My doctor said your meant to have 10 portions of fruit and veg, but the goverment decided on 5 just to get ppl eating it. But portions are about 60g not per fruit or veg.

Fruit isn't free it's 0 points, my leader said lol
I know what she meant it's not like sw so dint eat too much, I'll only have 1 banana and 2 plums a day or some grapes and berries as fruit in a large quantity has lots of calories and natural sugar x

ugh...I thought zero points meant free and I have been munching it like it's going out of fashion...moderation is my problem as well like Sucette said, I wouldn't be trying to lose weight otherwise :(

I haven't even had a banana since starting pp, i dont eat loads of fruit but i do have 5 portions of fruit/veg a day. My faves atm are clementines and braeburn apples :)

If Im having a banana I will only have one a day, and as they are so gorgeous, I love satsumas at the moment for snacking. Berries are the best to snack on as they are lower in sugar, so if you like blueberries (I personally dont), they would be a great free fruit, or frozen fruits with some ff yog etc.
Trouble with a lot of fruits is the sugar content and it sends your insulin soaring, giving you a sugar spike and perhaps triggering a craving. Cherry tomatoes and sugarsnap peas are a good alternative too, they have a sweet kick. (note to self - follow your own advice!!).
