Hi
Why is it that I know how to do this diet, I want to be slimmer but I just can't seem to stick to it!

I can manage a couple of weeks, can lose a few pounds and then it's like I have to sabotage what I've achieved.

How do I overcome this or am I destined to be fat all my life????

Feeling really low as have a few problems at home and looking like this and feeling like this isn't helping me.

Do other people feel like this???

I feel like this too at times! Think everyone does!
What i do to motivate myself is think of how i felt when i weighed less and was more comfortable in myself and look at old pictures which keep pushing me to believe that i can do it!! It takes alot of hard work and patience but the end results are very worth while.
When you feel you are going to sabotage things just think of how you will feel that little thinner :) Goodluck keep on going everyone has steps back but its how you overcome them that matters :)

I know how you feel as i have done this myself for years but i finely feel im in the right place now. Firstly you shouldnt look at it as a diet because it isnt its a healthy eating plan. Maybe set yourself small acheiveable targets start with a xmas goal if you lose 2 lbs a week you will be 10 lbs lighter by xmas. The best thing to do though is PLAN i sit down on a tuesday night and plan my weeks meals and write my shopping list i have 3 kids so i cant not have treats and things in the house but if you have healthier options to avoid temptation its not as bad :)

DB I think we are all guilty of this as we have weight problems :(

I guess focusing on why you want to lose the weight can be a good start, is it to be healthy is it for a specific goal?
I think knowing that the journey isn't a straight road helps, as many of us can probably attest to. We have all 'sabotaged' ourselves at one time or another the difference is what we choose to do after realising this? Do you carry on or continue on the downward spiral?
I think being in the right mindset is so important, I have been in a situation where I KNEW I needed to lose weight but just felt I couldn't commit to it as I had so many other things going on in my life :(

This journey is your journey ultimately, only you can put yourself first and realise you are worth the effort, weight loss is ultimately to make you healthier or feel better so it's about making time for you x

It's not easy so give yourself a break: look at my past failures on my recent journey: I was so cross last week I gained weight something snapped inside me and I just said 'enough is enough: chocolate will still be there when I am slim' something inside will just give you that push.... don't be too hard on yourself - just take each day as it comes x x x

Aww i think most people are like that sometime or another. Natasha is right you shouldnt think of sw as a diet because thats where my previous downfalls have been, i now just think of it as normal. Despite that i still go a bit binge mad once in a while but im very determined this time. Also this website has really helped me a lot. At my lowest points i got more support from everyone here than my consultant, husband or family. So when you feel like sabotaging just come on here and talk it over it might just make you feel better and less likely to sabotage xx

Thanks for the replies, it's nice to know that I'm not alone! Support from hubby is never that great as he just says you look fine as you are! Which doesn't really help.
I'm going to start afresh on Monday as I'm out this weekend for meals and will come on here as much as possible. if I'm getting a bit wobbly i'll post and hopefully the support on here will keep me on the straight & narrow!
bunny lover your words really struck a chord with me, I do need to make time for myself, even if it's a nice long relaxing bath or planning my weekly menu - putting myself first is something I don't do enough of and reading that just made me realise I should!
I've lost touch with lots of my friends over the past few months due to family problems & ties but hopefully i'll make some new ones on here.
I feel quite excited now and ready to plan my week ahead over the weekend lol
Thanks everyone x

What do you find are your triggers for giving up?

Yes, everyone. Well 99% of us anyway (I expect there are some saints out there, but not many!). You are not unique.

What you are doing is telling yourself in advance that you can't succeed, so that if you don't succeed, you will feel justified. It is called a "self-fulfilling prophecy".

Instead of telling yourself you are going to fail, just assume that you can succeed if you put your mind to it. Which you can - we all can.
