I feel like giving up on the PP system already (crys)

I have been looking through the stuff that we were given at the meetings and everything I seem to like has gone way way up in points, and yes I know we have ALL been given more points to play with but I only have 10points more and ....

Like my bagels (that I love eating) there around 6points, it doesn't say WW product next to the item in the book, but WW ones used to be 2points (I think) so looks like my days of having 3 of them plus filling, are out the window, especially if I want a decent dinner at night..

Someone is probably going to say use the extra weekly allowance, but I know if I did that, it would probably be gone in 3 days and then what do I do for the rest of the week. Thats why Im trying to stick to the 29 points and not go over unless I really really really need to. Plus they come in handy for an emergency while out..

I think if it were not for my hubby who says he is going to give the new plan a real go, I'd be right back on DP already. But I really want to give PP a real go to.

Wish I was not a carb-aholic and liked salads (which I don't, though I do like some veg) as it sucks on the PP system..

Someone please help :lost::cry: :sigh:

Why don't you stick to the old plan? You don't have to change over, if you look at other threads there are quite a few of you who want to stay on the old plan.

You need to do whats best for you and if that means staying on what you know and like best then do it!

Thanks but I do this with my hubby, and he is the main reason we are doing this (not that I don't nee to lose weight too) and he really wants to give the new plan a go and well my head could not cope with two plans at once, as I'm the one who points the dinners, and as of next week/the weekend will be making all his food for work he works 12 hrs a day (so thats breakfast and lunch and snacks)

Also we usually stay till the end of the meetings and we would not be able to do that if we were still on the DP  I just don't know...

The 49PP are there to be used so there's no need to deprive yourself. You may not want to use them all but they're not giving you extra points to sabotage you, they're just trying to make it more adaptable to real life.

If you found you worked better thinking along the lines of the old plan then alter your thinking of this plan to suit the old mindset.

For example, the 49PP equate to 7 extra PP a day, so if you don't feel the weekly bank suits you then tell yourself you have 36PP to use per day (29 daily + 7).

P.S - A WW original bagel is now 4PP each so not as bad as you thought!

Nice to know about the WW bagels, will be stoking up on them and putting some in the freezer.

Just got to get my head round everything else. According to the pocket guide, dried pasta white or brown 40gs is the same points, where as 150g cooked is more for brown pasta

I thinks its more a fact of me having worked out the points for all the things we ate, like the type of bread we ate etc, not just generic points like when your told bread is 2 points but it does not say what brand, which can often change the points of something.

Got my big notebook and a day free, so suppose its just means trying to find points for all the things I like and see what works and what doesn't, I'm assuming most of what I like is going to be the stuff thats gone up the most in points (which sucks, just like my life sometimes ) :sigh:

Just spoke to my hubby and looks like his lunch he was thinking of having is going to cost him another 6+ points due to the bread he is eating :(

My fault for picking it yesterday I suppose.

At least dinner is only going to be around 13-14 points (still seems a lot to me though, but can't seem to get it much lower)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!! (sorry if my head explodes today, I'm already giving myself a headache with this, not sure why exactly though)

Could you perhaps think of it as 7 points extra a day rather than 49 a week. If you are on 29pp, then think of 36pp, some of which you can save if you want to. Like the old plan. Feels better like this. I know 29pp is equivalent to about 16 old points when I work it out, so 19, when add the extra 7pp a day

Hi Zebredy, try to walk away from it for a few hours, go for a walk or have a bath. You are stressing out a lot about it and that is really not good for you or your diet.

I know it's hard to have to learn something completely new but that is how you have to look at it. Forget about the old points, they're in the past. Spend some time going though everything, like you said with a big notebook, and work out the pp values of your dinners and favourite foods. Try to work out a weeks worth of food and see how your pp use looks. If it's too high then have a look at individual meals, try to find places where you can amend certain ingredients or sides. This list of WW foods was put up here somewhere the other day, it might be useful WeightWatchers

I don't mean to sound like I'm lecturing, I know exactly how you're feeling, it happened me a few years ago when I switched from doing the WW core plan (no counting points) to the discover plan, I was completely lost but it all clicked into place after a while. You'll get there Zebredy, just try your best not to worry too much about it, all adjustments take time x

Starting new plans with completely different thoughts takes a lot of getting your head round!!!

I shopped last week for Discovery and am going to have to do the same this week as I haven't got my head sorted with what I need to buy!!

But ... I am ProPointing my meals so I am getting my head round those values ... and boy!! my daily eating is working out at 40 ProPoints .... but I have got the 49 as fall back!!

Don't panic yet .... let it fall into place!!!

Thanks everyone one.

Think it also doesn't help that I got turned down for another job, and sometimes my hubby does 84hrs a week for us (12hrs a day every day of the week) and I sometimes think its my fault, but he says to be positive and to be thankful we still have a roof over our heads etc etc..

It will take time I know, just wish there was a list of all the things I ate, so it was easier, lol, but we will get there.

Supposed to go shopping in 1hr (as got my Tesco christmas club card vouchers through) so we shall see. Defiantly going to buy a calculator at my next meeting..

It gets better, promise!! I never used to eat fruit (well, bananas and grapes are the only fruit i like) on WW, but since bananas are now 0pp, i have one of these a day to keep me going, and i have also found out that Asda Good For You Farmhouse vegetable cup a soup has gone down to 0pp!! As i want to have a chinese tonight, this is what my lunch is, lol! I havent touched my weekly allowance yet, and am determined to stick to daily allowance this week. But i know what you mean about points values going up, i have to give up my half portion of special fried rice tonight bcos its gone up from 5pts to 12pp!! Im sure we will all look back at this in a couple of months time and wonder what we were all worried about, lol!

Im feeling a bit more positive about it today. Pointed what I have had to eat and what I am going to eat already today and have PP left...enough for 3 malted milk biscuits after Zumba with a brew! Yesterday I was ready for going back to discover but today i'm feeling a lot more positive about it!

I'm going to take a packet of malted milk (good job I love them!) to work for brew time too so I can still have a biscuit per brew like usual (only get 2 brews a day lol) and only use 2 PP!

It takes a while to get ur head round PP I reckon...its trial and error really for the first week I think as to what you can cook for meals and what not....dont give up, you will get there!

I'm peeved bout the vodka problem but I go out once in a blue moon these days and don't drink in the house so figure that if I have a vodka induced night off every now and again it will do me no harm!

Wen I get back to how I used to be (out every weekend) I'll start pointing it proper but iv never really pointed my nights out anyway and not gained...I'm the dancefloor queen too...on it from the second I get in there till they turn the music off lol

Hi thanks for the replies guys/gals

I just had some toast with butter and honey (hope I got the points right) anyway never been one for comfort eating, but not having had honey for something silly like over two years, boy did it put a smile on my face, so tasty.

Thing is I think that I have got stuck in a rut, I don't like salads and not sure what else to eat other then bread/pasta/rice which is what I have most nights, except when I have the odd plate of chips (not a big fan of chips)

Seriously there is no way, I can see my habits changing any time soon.

Anyone got any suggestions?

My hubby is going to try and help me come up with some meals for the next week, and we will see how we go with that, hopefully things will get better, fingers crossed, cause I got 6.5 lbs I would like to lose before Christmas (the 10th of December might be asking to much) then I've lost 2 stone, and I don't want to gain cause I did something silly, like say pointing something wrong...

Have a look at the food diaries Zebredy, from looking at others peoples meals you might get some ideas..I saw a great one the other day for a 'pizza' made from a tortilla(3pp for ww one), passata(0pp), mozzarella slices(?) and veg(0pp) on top but you could put a bit of chicken or anything on it. I thought it sounded yummy and not very many pp involved so all good!!

Recipe for Tortilla Pizza

Here is the recipe I mentioned above, I copied it from the Discover Plan recipes forum but it looks like it would be quite low on pp too...good thing is you can change to add almost anything you want to it ;)

What you’ll need.
1 Weight Watchers tortilla wrap
30g Weight watcher mature cheese

20g (Around 5 pieces) sliced Pepperoni
Mushrooms
Herbs
Tomato Puree
Lettuce

What to do
1. Spread 1 Weight watchers tortilla wrap with Tomato puree.
2. Grate the cheese and place 15g onto the base
3. Chop Mushrooms and cut the sliced pepperoni in half. Add to them to the base.
4. Add the rest of the cheese.
5. Add herbs if desired
6. Oven bake at gas mark 6 until the cheese is melted
7. Serve on a bed of lettuce and enjoy.

Ella Belle, that sounds awesome, and if you folded it in half, you could make it into a quesadilla. I grew up making mini-pizzas on English muffins, which is a "fun food".

Zebredy, the best way I can rationalize the entire Points count changing is that I've gone to a new country and the currency is different. I'm enough of a geek that I sat with my old Food Companion and spent evenings memorizing the Points count. (Yes, I have a very strong Inner Sheldon Cooper.) It's like the Points counts that I know inside-outside-backward-forward are my native currency and the new PPs are in some very different monetary system that calls itself the dollar but really "isn't" to me, and there will be some confusion till I master the new system. We'll get through it.

oh dear... now! don't worry too much! I'm sure it won't be too bad... can't you compromise? 1 ww bagel is now 4pp... so it's not too bad. Can't you have just 2 of them with light filling?

I know you'll need to make changes to your way of eating, but what if these changes really improved tour weight loss? xx

I got the new plan on Monday and by Wednesday I was pulling my hair out!!
I found it hard to get my head round it, but then I realised I was comparing everything to the old system. Forget the old way and look at this as a brand new eating plan. Don't compare, start fresh. It will click into place, honestly

This is me on day 5, and I have worked out the values for my cereals, bread, spreads, rice, potatoes etc. Once you work out the basics, it will be so much easier.
I will sit and plan tomorrows eating tonight and will do so every night until I am used to it.

Try roughly working out a days eating. On Tuesday I had -

2 weetabix 3
milk 1

Free soup
Bread 5
Flora ex light 1
Ham 1

250g Potato cut into wedges and baked in oven 5
Sainsburys good to yourself burger 4
Warburtons soft roll 4
Free salsa, jalapenos, beetroot, pickled onions
Snacks of satsuma, melon and banana
Total = 24. Leaves 5 of your daily for snacks/treats and you have still got your weekly allowance.
Hope this helps x
