Sweet Pink's Journey from 'Tubby Tummy' to 'Yummy Mummy' & all the bits in between!!

sweet pink

is losing for shoes
After reading everyone else's diaries for a while now I thought it was time to start one of my own

I'm 31 (almost) & have 3 lovely children. My 3 lovely children & my love for all things sweet is what has resulted in me being here, but 3 months ago I decided that enough was enough & this time next year I would be slim..well slimmer anyway!! Now 12 whole weeks on plan with only 1 day of flexible syns & just 1/2lb off being 3 stone lighter I am really enjoying my new healthy eating plan (though admittedly I do enjoy the results even more!!!) :D I feel like my love hate relationship with food is well & truly under control for the first time since god knows when but unfortunately the same cannot be said for my love of shopping but, like I told my hubby, I'll deal with that one when I'm thin!!!

I weighed in this morning with a 2lb loss so I'm determined to have a good week & see if I can beat that next week. I'd be the first to admit that I probably am my own worst critic but when I put my mind to something I dont like anything to get in my way. Its not always a good trait as I have been known to throw the toys out of the pram on a few occassions

I'm the worlds worst veg eater so that is something I'm going to try to work on over the next few months. Up to now I've been making my 1/3rd superfree up of fruit which has been ok & got me through but I do realise that a healthy eating plan should involve veg too :D

Any advice anyone has will be greatly appreciated & can I just apologise in advance for any tantrums I may throw along the way!!! :p

Well tea changed last night as I decided to go clothes shopping when hubby came home to take over the reins :family2: so the turkey & SW wedges has been changed to tonight & I had a pasta & sauce with sweetcorn & peppers when I got home instead.

I usually get all excited about going clothes shopping & end up coming home feeling depressed when nothing I like fits or looks right so last night was a big milestone for me!!!:party0011: Usually when buying jeans I bought whatever fitted & choice (if there was any) was very slim. SO I was amazed to head into the changing rooms with 6 different pairs to try on!!! The one positive about only having one pair was that you didnt have to brave the changing room mirror!!!:hide: Putting the first pair on, a size 20 skinny fit (I always feel optimistic when I start!!! lol) I was shocked when I was able to pull them up....even more shocked when I could do the zip up never mind the fact they actually felt a bit on the roomy side!!! So I tried on the same ones in a 18 they fitted like a glove so I bought them & a coat also in a size 18!!!! I couldnt believe my luck...definately a NSV for me!!!:D

After that I picked up a few bits & pieces for Christmas & was walking past Monsoon so I decided to go for a wee walk round just to see what I could dream of fitting into next year. I had been on the look out for a dress for a dinner I have to go to in the new year. I saw one & thought I would try it on out of curiosity just to see how far off fitting it was. I couldnt believe it when I was able to zip it up!!! It is slightly on the tight side but I figured I would have plenty time to lose a bit more before the time so I bought it!!! I couldnt wait to get home & show my hubby my purchases which makes a change from the usual just put it in the wardrobe & bring it out when I wear it!!!

Its really given me the boost I need after a few weeks of slower losses. I've even set myself a little challenge to cut down my diet coke addiction. Everytime I want a glass of diet coke I must drink a glass of water first....so far so good but only time will tell!!!!

Thanks Spanx :)

Well my little challenge did not go according to plan yesterday as I had 2 more glasses of diet coke than I did water but there was a reason.. I ran out of bottled water!!! Our tap water has been a horrible cloudy colour for almost the past week so drinking it was a no go!!!

Today is proving a challenge in itself too with the arrival of * week. I have been battling my little food demons all morning. So far I'm winning though I did have an extra slice of bacon for breakfast . I suppose one positive is that I no longer crave chocolate on a * week which used to be my biggest vice  Instead I just feel hungry so I'm going have a pasta & sauce for lunch with some sweetcorn, peppers & chicken pieces which always fills me up & should keep me going until tea time. The fruit bowl is nice & full & the fridge is stocked with mullerlights so hopefully that will stop me venturing to anything too naughty :D

Yikes I cant believe how long ithas been since I updated my diary  but better late than never I suppose.

My diet coke challenge has been a bit of a flop though I am trying to cut it down.... I'm drinking a glass of water while I type though that mainly is because I've ran out of diet coke & am still snowed in . In all honesty though I really do need to get on the ball & cut my diet coke intake down by at least half :sigh:

My losses have been, well losses, since I last checked in & last weeks loss was particularly surprising at 3 1/2 lbs on a star week :D. I'm not really sure what to expect when weighing in tomorrow though as I have had my birthday this week & although foodwise I stayed within syns I did have a tiny bottle of champagne on saturday evening all by myself which was 15 syns in itself. I guess only time will tell :(

I've also been having a few NSV's which are helping to spur me on. I found my old belt that I was wearing when I started my SW journey & was amazed to discover that I have lost an amazing 9 inches from my waist. I have given it pride of place on my dressing table though I'm thinking I might be better wrapping it round my fridge with a padlock to keep me away from that evil but oh so delicious diet coke that I keep craving

Clothes shopping is also becoming a lot more pleasurable as I'm now well into an 18 & actually even heading towards a 16. I cant wait until I can go into any shop in any high street & buy whatever I want (& fit into it when I get it home )

My little Christmas mini target is almost upon me & I am only 2.5lbs away from achieving it so I'll be weighing in on Christmas morning if its not off when I WI tomorrow  That then got me thinking about my next mini target which is actually more of a non scale one but an important one to my nonetheless. Its my 7th wedding anniversary at the beginning of May & I would so love to surprise my hubby by fitting into my wedding dress by then... (I might have to try it on later to see how realistic this might be )

I'll sign off for now but will be back in the morning with a little update when I WI.

xx

Well I actually love my scales this morning as they showed a 3lb loss which I thought was pretty good considering my little champagne pleasure  In saying that if I worked out my syns over the week I would have just been within the 105 but have always worked my syns out daily which leads me to the question if you do your syns weekly does this still work?? I have 1 friend who says it doesnt & another who says it does so I would be very interested to hear what others have to say on that.

My 3lb loss has also meant that I hot my Christmas mini target of getting into the 15 stone range..only just mind you but at least its in the right direction. Another 1/2lb to my 4 stone shiney which is a great incentive to stay on plan over Christmas :) If someone had told me when I started in august that I would start 2011 4 stone lighter I would never have believed them as I was one of those people who said you cannot possibly eat all of that & lose weight!!

Well last night after I signed off I tried my wedding dress on & I can actually get into it & get the zip 2/3rds of the way up so hopefully by May it should fit like a glove :D which isnt bad 7 years & 3 kids later

I've been dropping hints about getting a wii fit for a while now as its just impossible to get out to the gym with the 3 kids & the hours I work so hubby has promised me one after Christmas. I'm hoping that its good coz I really want to get into a regular exercise routine now I feel like I have soo much more energy than before. I also want to try to tone up & build up my fitness levels in the hope that maybe I'll be starting off 2012 at or near target

hi sweet pink :happy036:well done on ur achievements so far :happy096: regarding weekly syns my s/w consultant said it makes no difference whether you do it daily or weekly do what suits you, good luck losing the rest of ur lbs :)

Hi Valerie,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Weekly syns will definately make Christmas that little bit easier to plan :D

I usually use my syns daily but am planning of using them over the week for Christmas and the new year, as I am supposed to be going to France just after Christmas until early new year. Don't think we'll be going though I live at the top of a cliff on an unmade road so very dangerous and slippery at the mo 'cos of the snow and ice.

Denise

Thanks Denise. I think using weekly syns for this week might work better for me even if it is just this once. I hope the snow & ice doesnt interfere too much with your plans. Its a nightmare getting anywhere isnt it.

I've just made some rather interesting discoveries whilst clearing out some cupboards (the things you do when youre snowed in!!!) Firstly I found my booking apointment cards for my 1st & 2nd dd's & then an old weightloss diary that I used on the run up to our wedding. Of course the first thing I looked for was the records of my weight... ;)

My weight with dd2 at the booking appointment (I was 11 weeks pg) was 110kg (17st 4.5lbs)

My weight with dd1 at my booking appointment (I was 15 weeks pg) was 103kg (16st 3lb)

My weight the week before our wedding was 96kg (15st 1.5lb)

So I'm lighter than I was at both booking appointments already & only 12 lbs off being the same weight as I was on our wedding day!!!!!!!!!!!
1.gif

I know thats probably a bit of a pointless post but that little discovery has meant quite a bit to me...especially as I was practically starving myself & working out like crazy at the gym 5 days a week to get down to that weight for my wedding...if only I'd known about SW then!!!! Now I am a lot more confident that I WILL get to my target weight of 10st 10lb which is probably the lightest I have been since my teens :D

Last night I got thinking about yesterdays discoveries & just how much they meant to me & realised that up until now I havent been appreciating each little step in my weightloss journey enough so I've decided to set myself a few mini goals to help me stay focussed. This in itself is an achievement because its me appreciating the journey as much as the end result. I remember when I first joined minimins & saw everyone with all of these mini goals & thinking why would you want to set them as all I could think about was the end result...Target!!! I now realise just how silly that sounds!!! :(

So I got thinking about what little things would help me appreciate my achievements along the way. So here are a few I came up with.

My first one will obviously be getting into my wedding dress again as that really does mean a lot to me. So more of a NSV

The second one will be to get my BMI down to 30 or below which will mean I will just be classed as overweight rather than obese.

For the third I decided that I would like to try to get down to 13st 7lb before Easter...I'm not sure just how achievable or realistic this one will be but I know it will give me that extra push to try that little bit harder over the next few months

Has anyone else anyother suggestions??

I've been planning Christmas dinner this afternoon & trying to work out syns for it so here goes.....

Starter
Melon with berries & a drizzle of fruit coulis made with sweetner (anyone any ideas for syns on this??? would 1/2 syn be enough??)

Main
Turkey, ham, potatoes, veg, SW roasties with rosemary & sage, I'm going to give the pigs in blankets & stuffing a miss, gravy which will be scwartz turkey gravy (4 syns per sachet so I'm thinking 1 syn would be plenty)

Dessert
Hubby will be having Plum Pudding & kids are having icecream so I'm going to have a meringue nest filled with 0% greek yoghurt mixed with sweetner & a hint of cinnamon with mixed berry fruit salad (2.5 syns for the meringue nest)

So 4 syns in total for xmas dinner leaving me 11 syns for the rest of the day :D

Now need to get thinking about breakfast & tea (if we even need any!!!!)

Good morning everyone!!

Well I had a bit of a panic last night as I have never made SW roasties before & although I tend to think they cant be that different to SW chips I've decided to have a practice for tea tonight...dont want a disaster on Christmas Day after all

I've been making my final list of all the last minute bits & pieces I need to get & how different it is to the list I made last year!!! This time last year me & hubby would have thought nothing of sitting down in the evening to watch a film with a tube of pringles..each ..this year will be a lot different!!! Well hubby will probably still have some (hes a lucky sod & seems to be able to eat what he wants without piling on the pounds!!!) but I havent touched a pringle since the 16th august so most definately do not intend to start now.

Its also in my head that the last time I was on a diet that it was over Christmas that I let slip & never really got back on track. I think the difference is that although I started out viewing SW as a diet now its just a way of life. I never feel deprived of anything & when I do have a naughty treat it is a treat & I really enjoy it. I just hope my willpower stays nice & strong... I think I could be using minimins quite a bit over the next few days in order to check in & keep that willpower strong.

Another thing I remember last year was the amount of chocolate people had bought... & shockingly how quickly it was eaten  Last year I was hoping for a chocolatey treat in my presents...this year I'm praying I have none as everyone knows that I'm on SW. Hubby has been fab though & has said that if I do get chocolates that he'll 'buy' them off me & then I'll be able to treat myself to something else instead. I thought that was a pretty good idea...

I better sign off & get on with my list. If any of you that have been on plan over Christmas before are reading this is there anything I should be buying to help me resist the really naughty stuff & keep me on track?????? If only they sold willpower in tescos!!!!:sigh::sigh:

Thanks Valerie & same to you & everyone else who reads my diary & has supported me on my journey so far.

Well the excitement in our house is crazy today... you can just imagine 3 little girls all running round the house squealing 'Santas coming tonight!!!' Ok make that 4 but the 4th isnt soo little!!!! We are all ready now & the turkey is in the oven roasting. The smell coming from the kitchen is absolutely divine.. Mind you the turkey is A LOT bigger than what I imagined but hey its a speed food & I'm cooking it so that its SW friendly so thats not a bad thing. I've always adored turkey so I dont think any will go to waste & you never know it might even help my losses this week...I'll let you know about that one on tuesday.

I had a bit of a panic this morning when we couldnt get strawberries & raspberries anywhere due to the weather & I was having trouble getting meringue nests but thankfully 2 towns & goodness knows how many shops later I've got them. So the ham is now cooked (& tested
3.gif
) I had a trial run of my SW roasties last night & they were absolutely lush & given the seal of approval by hubby & the girls so I was dead chuffed.

SO today its all nice & simple....then after I get the girls to bed it'll be time for operation Santa (I'm sooooooooo excited!!!
6.gif
) & then if my syns allow it I'll have a wee glass of wine before I go to bed & the maddness of tomorrow arrives!!!!

So I'll sign off & wish you all a very
11.gif
& hope that
15.gif
brings you all something nice xxx

Well I know I said I would probably check in everyday over Christmas to keep me on the straight & narrow but I survived Christmas on my own & managed to stay within my syn limit while still having a really great time. Not only that but I weighed in this morning praying for a 0.5lb loss to get my 4 stone shiney & the scales (which I'm beginning to love rather than hate) showed a 2 1/2 lb loss!!!!!!
9.gif

I cannot believe I managed it as I really did think my willpower would crack at the first sight of a chocolate
3.gif
but I allowed myself some so long as it was within my syn limit & that was enough to keep the munchy monstor at bay.

This morning we decided to go to the shops for a few bits & pieces & to spend some Christmas money of course & I have now got my wii fit so no excuses for not exercising now... I cant wait to get going on it but just had to check in here first to share the good news...now just New Year festivities to survive this week ;)

I can see how this wii fit thing works....its soooo addictive. Me & hubby played it last night until well after midnight with me clocking up around 2 hours in my fit piggy & burning off about 550 calories.... & that was just what we done before midnight!!! :D I'm really hoping that this will help me not only keep losing weight but also help me tone up a good bit too. The games on it are fantastic & the kids love them so I'm hoping its something that will benefit the whole family though I secretly cant wait to pinch it back off them coz they have been hogging it this afternoon!!!:p

I've also decided to try & get another turkey for New Year. Apart from it being absolutely delicious its also a speed food which I'm sure helped me lose over Christmas...well it must have coz I did eat an awful lot of turkey!!! I still have ham in the freezer from Christmas too so it would be nice to have another lovely family meal.

Glad you're enjoying the Wii :D And well done for being so good over xmas, that's a real achievement and you should be proud of yourself. Wish I burned 550 calories in a session  you go girl!!
