Healthy Extras???

I know your supposed to have 2 B's which are mainly fibre/protein/carbs that you miss the other days. I think A's are mainly dairy and calcium related and you have to have a minimum of 1 but is optional for 2 if you need it, or so i read!
someone with a bit more experience in the diet will clarify! :D

hey
how many healthy extras are you allowed each day on green & red, and whats the difference between a hex a & hex b???

When you are new to the forum, the jargon can sometimes be a bit confusing.

You will sometimes see Healthy Extras referred to as HEXA/HEXB, hexa/hexb, or sometimes just a or b.

The Healthy Extra A choice (HEXA) is for calcium, so it is mostly milk and cheese. You are allowed 1 or 2 (up to you) on a red or green day, but only 1 if you are doing extra easy.

The Healthy Extra B choice (HEXB) is a bit more complicated. On red or green you can have 2 HEXBs, but on extra easy you can only have one.

On an extra easy day this can be cereals, crispbreads, bread, cereal bars, bought soups, and dried, canned or cooked fruit.

On a green day you can choose from the extra easy list plus measured amounts of meat, fish, cheese, nuts and seeds.

On a red day you can choose from the extra easy list plus measured amounts of vegetables such as potatoes or peas, and pulses.

I hope that this has helped you, but if I have not made it clear then please do say so and we can have another go. I promise you, it is easy once you have got the hang of it!!
