Hi everyone. Just started Attack today. Reading the book, and feeling a little bit confused as have to do some food shopping today. Please could someone just confirm for me? (for Attack)

a) Muller Lights or supermarket copies (eg Tesco) are OK?

b) Fat free fromage frais is OK?

c) Is mustard OK? Is there such a thing as a tomato ketchup which is approved?

d) Which diet drinks are OK besides diet coke? Are those fruit flavoured fizzy waters OK? Fruit teas?

Getting a bit of a headache here! I am going to read the rest of the book (I am a veteran of many many diets so know this is important!) I did the 'True Weight' thing and I was given a prediction for the end of June (hangs head in shame).

Is the coaching worth doing? Seems very expensive and I know from previous experience that Minimins is fab and won't cost a fortune!

Many many thanks.
Louise

Oops! Have just seen my posting and all those stats are wrong now! I will have to change them (but feeling stressed enough already!)

hi and welcome
dont panic it wont take you long to get used to the diet

a) Muller Lights or supermarket copies (eg Tesco) are OK?
ive stuck to Muller toffee and vanilla you have to check the sugar content on anything else some people buy natural yogurt and add sweeteners

b) Fat free fromage frais is OK?
yep fine

c) Is mustard OK? Is there such a thing as a tomato ketchup which is approved?
mustard is ok not seen any allowed ketchup again too much sugar but you son learn to make nice sauces out of fromage frais and spices / herbs

d) Which diet drinks are OK besides diet coke? Are those fruit flavoured fizzy waters OK? Fruit teas?
the drinks should be 1 cal per glass the flavoured waters i still drink not as much as they can be 4 cal per glass ....diet ginger ales a good one and i drink pepsi max but other cans of diet drinks should say what they contain
as for fruit tea im not 100% someone will come along and answer that one
good luck and dont hesitate to shout when you want to

Hi Louise welcome and good luck!!

Only the Vanilla and Toffee ones - not the fruit. So I think that rules out the tesco versions (I've not checked them out). Yoghurt should be at 40cal per 100g max.

b) Fat free fromage frais is OK?

YES

c) Is mustard OK? Is there such a thing as a tomato ketchup which is approved?

Mustard YES
Ketchup - NO. No-sugar diet versions restricted to 1ts per day on PV days ONLY
(I think)

d) Which diet drinks are OK besides diet coke? Are those fruit flavoured fizzy waters OK? Fruit teas?

No idea about waters. Fruit teas YES. Fizzy drinks only if less or equal 1 cal per 100ml (I'm no expert on these)

Getting a bit of a headache here! I am going to read the rest of the book (I am a veteran of many many diets so know this is important!)

The simple answer is - stick to unprocessed foods that you are allowed: Meat, Fish, 0% fat (or <2%) dairy. Veg on PV days only (after attack). No fruit, no bread, no pasta/potatoes/rice, no pulses, peas or sweetcorn. Plain fat-free yoghurt, fromage frais, quark sweetened with sweetener and flavouring (a sprinkling of cinnamon is my favourite)

There are lists in the back of the book (I think) and if you speak French there are lists here:
Tous les aliments Dukan autorisés, interdits, tolérés et les adjuvants pour cuisiner - Recettes Dukan pour régime hyper protéiné du Dr Dukan

I did the 'True Weight' thing and I was given a prediction for the end of June (hangs head in shame).

Don't worry it's great you've decided to start. Motivation is great when you see the weight drop off! My prediction was fairly accurate and I had a holiday in the middle!

I have no experience on that - the only currently coached Dukan member on minimins seems to have disappeared (maybe she had to sign a no-disclosure waiver??). But wait for Jo to come along and she'll fill you in (I think the answer may be 'NO' - save your money!!)
. We're all doing great here, with ups and downs but real replies not copied-and-pasted stock answers.

Anja says it all...

Save your money... stick with us... and there's usually someone around to help...

Looking forward to seeing you on other threads... and any questions, don't hesitate...

Thanks a million for those replies. I will have to compile a shopping list.

I do speak French (wouldn't be up to standard of someone living in France, but good standard) and had a bit of a look at the French sites. Has it really swept France, or is it all publishing hype? I think the English version of the book sounds like it's been translated a bit 'clunkily' but it all sounds terribly French and you've got to love it - I particularly liked the bit where the good doctor says he find that chewing gum isn't 'elegant'! Reminded me of a French exchange visit I did 41 years ago! The girl I was staying with was horrified that I was eating something in the street, height of bad manners in those days anyway! Anyway, sugar free gum going on the list today.....

Lou49 - I'd say it's hype... while of course on internet there are loads of Dukan forums in French, in reality, it's as criticised as every other diet on the market over here. And I know no one "in real life" on the diet right now...

ooooh and, for your shopping list, oat bran is CRUCIAL from day one... some find it in their supermarket, others have to traipse to a health food shop. In London, you shouldn't have a problem... I see you've the same stats as a few of us, with same goal too! Same height and weight aim... (I don't mind my weight, just that I'm too short for it ;))

Welcome to the board Lou :)

beware the fruit waters...we're not allowed ANY fruit :) with the exception of rhubarb on cruise

fresh rhubarb is hard to find now...out of season I think...but some supermarkets stock frozen with the other frozen fruits x
