Need a bit of help..my friend doing dukan is coming for dinner. Can someone please advise if either of the following would be ok/need to be changed:

Beef stew made using lean beef, browned in frylight & stewed using beef stock cube, tinned tomatoes, garlic, carrot, green beans, butternut squash & leeks (& added dry spices eg oregano etc)

moussaka using quorn mince & lamb stock cube, aubergine, tomatoes, garlic, onions, fat free yogurt/fromage frais, eggs and quark/VLF cream cheese (again with dry spices)
I do slimming world so wouldnt be using any oil/fat/butter etc anyway but dont want to get it wrong!! Any advice appreciated

depends if she's on a pp (pure protein) or a pv (protein vegetables) day....

Avoid salt or high fat/salt stock cubes...think beans are a no-no as they're starchy....

the 2nd recipe looks the better option :)

(i'm tired and apologise in advance if I've missed anything )

presuming the latter...

essence of dukan is low fat/carb/salt/high protein

(so more meat/egg than veg on her plate would be good...)

What a kind friend you are...

Green Beans are okay (also "French Beans"). They are normally eaten while still young and the beans have not formed fully. Proper shelled Beans (the type you can get dried or tinned etc) are not allowed and I wonder if the jury is out on runner beans: if the beans inside have swelled they're probably a no-no, but if they're tiny it's probably the same a green beans.

I second Anja... and if ever I got the chance to eat fresh English runner beans in season, I'd grab it!

Thanks for your replies everyone, I was thinking the same about the green beans (I'm a bit rubbish at what food is carby apart from the obvious!). I know what its like trying to watch what you're eating and then people serving you up something completely unsuitable so don't want to become a hypocrite!! :)

Hello again Moo... I've just looked properly at your signature... and you're at Target!

WELL DONE YOU!
