Hi all, i'm new to posting here and have gained so many ideas so Thankyou all :)
I'm just finishing 2 weeks and really 'in the zone' but i have a niggle!
I have to work 2 weeks on nights coming up and could use some experience to help me plan ahead?
I've never worked night shift so havent a clue how i will find it but desperately don't want to throw myself off target if you see what i mean?!
What sort of thing might i want to be eating in the early hours and when i finish work? I'm a mainly green day girl if that helps!
If anyone has any advice i'd be really grateful as i don't want to falter!!

A while back somebody asked this question & the reply was to look at each day in 24hours, (obvious I know), eg perhaps you will only get up at 2pm so your day will start there, so whatever you eat in the next 24hour period will be 'your day'.

I hope I've explained that ok, I know what I mean:D

hi..i have done nights for 15 years, but done s/w for 2 years and although my day may differ from urs as i get in,have 3 hours sleep and get back up to sort kids out for school and then stay awake till 9.30ish and go back for 4 hours..but basically on ur 1st day,as u will start eating i assume at normal breakfast time..i spread my meals into small snacks, then have a main meal in late afternoon, then i would only have fruit and yogurt or superfree food at nightbreak..then on ur 2nd day,ur breakfast would b at the time u get up but make it a nice big one,i always had a cooked brekky, found it easy to use superfree then, and if u can fit it in lunch b4 u go to work, snack at 1st meal break and then superfree at main..but basically its planning and doing what is easiest for u,aslong as ur eating enough to sustain u during the night..good luck :)

Hi
I do 3 nights every 2 weeks and do similar as poptart, i like to graze through the night to stop boredom and tiredness so try to pick free foods or low syns, i will have a cooked breakfast when i get up, later on i'd have what i would normally have for tea then take my 'dinner' to work , whether it makes a difference to your weightloss i don't know since i work shifts it differs every wk anyway! good luck n try to stay away from the tasty treats machines lol

When switching from daytime hours to nightshift I plan my days as

START: From when I get up
FINISH: When I go to bed.

I eat not massive meals but just enough to fill me up. A couple of those days are 36 hours but I will make sure that if I need to snack it's on superfree/free so when I feel like derailing I have my syns and healthy extras to incorporate.

Some used to do midnight to midnight, but it's whatever suits you :)

When I do nights I start at 9 and finish at 7 I only do the odd one so I have no set pattern but the day I do the night I get up at 7 ish have all my meals throughout the day and then have a banana and maybe an apple at 10-11 then I don't eat untill I get home in the morning and have some more fruit before going to sleep and then I'm up 11 ish and have a big breakfast/lunch before carrying on with my day as usual! I understand that this isn't very helpful as night time is probably the only time of the day when I don't feel the need to eat!

i also do a lot of nights, i start at 19.30, and finish at 08.00
i just completely turn the day around. first night is iffy, nearly always end up having 4 meals, but just need to make them slightly smaller ones.
then i have 'breakfast' when i get up from sleep (around 5pm). 'lunch' at work, (around 11pm) a snack around 4am, then a kind of 'supper' when i get home, then off to bed around 10am.

Thankyou all so much, that really is helpful. Like i say i just dont know what i might want to eat lol. Think i will go armed with fruit, some veggie bolognaise or something and see how it goes! I also wont take any money so i cant go near the vending machine!!
Thanks again lovelies )

I just finished 3 nights (first lot since starting SW) and did similar to what people have suggested already, had a SW cooked breakfast at about 6-7pm, started at 9.15pm, then snacked on fruit, alpen light bars and yoghurt, had a mugshot or leftovers from boyf's dinner whenever I felt hungry enough then had more fruit for the rest of the night, then back in bed for about 8.30-9am, sometimes having a snack before bed depending on what I've had during the night, I think I may have lost more than usual this week because of this as was only really having 2 meals, will find out at WI tomorrow night! x

well i lost 4.5lbs last week after my nights, and 2lb this week so just goes to show I obviously suit night shifts! lol x
