Sams Diary - Back on SS

Well. I am on day 6 of the Cambridge Diet and have been so inspired by everyone elses diary that I thought it would help me to start my own.

I have become addicted to this site and I think it is going to be my lifeline during the next few months as I get to grips with my new life.

I have tried all the diets under the sun and never get past the first few days because I am just so greedy. I can't say I'm a yo yo dieter, I have been overweight for 10 years now, but gradually getting heavier by a few pounds each year.

For some reason I have now decided that the time is right to lose weight. I have a new determination that I have never had before. I don't have a clue where its come from as I am generally happy in my life. I have a wonderful husband and two gorgeous daughters. I am definately doing this for me as my family love me as I am.

So. starting weight 18st1lb:eek::eek: I am ashamed of myself for letting myself get so big. I wear a size 20/22 and am 5ft 7.

Starting measurements
Bust 48"
waist 45"
hips 51"

I am going to set myself targets one at a time. First one is to lose 25lb (10% of my bodyweight)

So far I have been 100% on the diet. I have felt like cheating but not because I am hungry, just because I miss food. The first few days were so tough, but I think I must have been in ketosis by the time I woke up on day 3 as I honestly havent felt hungry since then.

Today I seem to have a lot more energy than I have had on previous days. Am hoping that will last!!

Well I think thats enough to bore you all to start with! I have my first weigh in tomorrow so will post the results. Cant wait!

Hi hun,

I'll subscribe now, so that I can keep up to date with your journey. I was just reading it and going...ditto, ditto, ditto.

Good luck at your first weigh in - Did you read that post by chunky monkey? She's lost 51lbs in her first 9 weeks!! Thats what I want!! Thats my goal to equal that. I've never done this diet without giving in after about 4 weeks, so this time, I aim to give it that one final shot.

You'll hit your 10% in no time at all, just keep focussed and together we'll get to our goals!!

Dont know why but I am finding it really tough today. Have had a fantastic first week, but today I am STARVING.

I cant explain why I am hungry. I have been 100% on the plan and have drunk loads of water.

I wont cheat. The first weeks results have been too good for me to fall off the wagon yet, but god I could kill for a bag of chips!

Hopefully hubby will be home from work in the next 1/2 hour. Think I need to escape for a bath for an hour or so and let him deal with feeding the kids tonight.

Well done hun, 12lbs is brilliant!!! Yipee Yipee Yipee!!!!

Hope you managed to get rid of the hunger !

Blimey. I dont know how I managed to get thru yesterday without eating.

I was surprised that I felt so hungry yesterday. Have been sticking to plan 100% and had 3 litres of water plus copious amounts of coffee. It definitely was real hunger and not cravings. Does anyone else get really hungry days out of the blue?

Ended up having a row with hubby over something completely trivial and getting all emotional yesterday. In the past I definitely would have turned to food so I have given myself a pat on the back this morning for not giving in.

Well, Ive got a 40th birthday party to go to tonight. Im looking forward to it and will make sure I stay away from the buffet. Just lots of water and lots of dancing for me.

Have a good day everyone:)

Wow, i'm so very pleased to hear that even after a squabble with the hubby, you managed to stay away from food!!! thats....bl**dy amazing! its exactly what i would have done up until now.... yes you DO deserve the pat on the back PLUS some!

how are you feeling so far, today? with the hunger, i mean...

ive got fingers crossed that you are better today..

Thanks Dis,

Not feeling hungry yet this morning. I drop my youngest at playgroup at 9.30 and usually have my first pack when I get back.

Going to try to keep myself distracted today. Going for a sunbed and got to buy a birthday pressie and a christening pressie so should at least get me out of the house for a bit.

If it stops raining I might even hoover the car!!

Hope everyone else has a good day today.

hello again, WL8S! staying out of the house, or staying preoccupied seems to suit us both...most dieters, really. i had every intention of getting out and taking advantage of this new found energy, but i'm sooo blah at the moment. AF has arrived for the first time since october 2005!!
 so needless to say, all i really feel like doing is bundling up with the summer duvet.

i'm happy that you arent feeling the hunger pains today...well, so far. take it easy and enjoy the day out.

Hi - just wanted to send a quick message to say good luck to you and well done for being so good so far!
I found that after the first weigh in - I had a couple of tough days as I think I was so focussed on getting to the end of week one that it hit me all of a sudden once I had my first weigh in that there was such a long way to go and it overwhelmed me a bit and I felt hungry.
Glad to say though that I am in my 10th week (10th weigh in on tuesday) and the time has flown. I feel great and this week everyone I know suddenly seems to have noticed I have lost weight because I am getting lots of lovely comments (I am one of those people that has to lose 3 stone plus before anyone notices because I am tall).
Anyway, rambling now. Good luck, keep coming here for support and you will be unrecognizable before you know it.
p.s. thinking of changing my name now to Chunky Monkey - LOL ... it has a better ring to it than Chunky Chicken.
(made me giggle)
Have a wonderful day
